he may be pushing your buttons, but when i first registered and read all about cobalts "walking" and "owning" 99-04 GT's i was a little shocked too. i didn't take it too seriously because after all, this is the interweb.

im not saying an SS/SC cant run with a stang, their times are in the same ballpark. just seems to me that with the mentality that an SS/SC can easily "walk" a 99-04 GT, some of these guys are gonna go out there and be in for a surprise.

if you wanna brag about beating a stock GT, thats not all that impressive anyway, so why brag about it? besides, the majority of GT's out there that are willing to race you probably arent stock. all it takes is a set of 4.10s and DR's and a good driver and you have yourself a 13.7ish stang.

im not trying to add fuel to this fire, but you have to admit, coming on this board and reading all about how easily it is to beat a GT is a little surprising. no wonder he got a little riled up.

yeah, there are a lot of douche bags running around in GT's, but there are just as many driving Cobalts, SRT-Neons, LS1's, WS6's........every brand of loyalist has its share that give the rest of us a bad rep. i know at least 10 other people personally that have Mustangs (5.0's, 4.6s,....) and every one of them is a stand up, great person to hang out and BS about cars with.

i could call the guy in an 06 SS/SC that weaved in and out of heavy traffic just to ride my ass and do a fly-by a "typical" domestic ricer, but i didnt. i know there are a lot of you out there that are probably pretty cool.

 

Mach 1 has 4 cams, hence the DOHC motor.. they only have 3.55 gears, which isn't a whole lot AT ALL..

The '99 Cobra didn't make the power, they got fixed due to recalls.. the '01 Cobra had the full power they said it did, 325-ish hp

Bullitts are not that much faster, by the way.. whoever said that crap about pulling at the end of 4th gear..

And to whoever said that about the LS1 vs. Mach 1.. the DOHC motor pulls just like the LS1 up top, trust me i've seen it.. hit 3rd gear and it starts pullin more, 4th pulls even more..

But anyway:

A) Bullitts have a different inatke that out flows and out performs even a TB/Plenum
equipped GT. They have a better torque curve and can pull past the 5,000rpm's
where a GT dies at. With that being said both cars still have zero ***** after fourth
gear anyway so who cares. Nothing like 120mph to 140mph in a half hour.

B) A Mach1 still lacks the overall power curve of the LS1. The LS1 easily matches the
high end power of the DOHC. When a LS1 hit's the rev limiter it is still making power.

 

You keep telling yourself that.. The only gt's that didnt pull past 5000 were the 96-98's with the NPI h/c/i combo.. but once they got the PI h/c/i, they pulled til 5500 or so.. GT's pull past 5200, so do Bullitts.. My car doesnt drop power til around 5600-5700.. The bullitts have a better intake manifold which can handle more power, but dont put out THAT great of differences.. they've got different suspension and different wheels (slightly diff shade than other bullitt rims on GT's)

Mach 1 does not lack the power curve of an LS1 pal, they dyno right at the same. LS1's do not make power when they hit the rev limiter, no car does.. that's why it's called a rev limiter, because it's pointless/harmful to go past it..

I know a damn lot about mustangs, a lot more than you stupid ricers..

You can take your out-of-production, catfish-looking Camaro and stick it up your ass.. My GT is right on LS1 car's asses right now, with a little bit more i'll be right next to the SS and WS6..

This statements makes you lose credibility because LS1 F-Bodys hp/tq and track times are very similar as long as they are in similar years. For instance, 1998 - 1999 LS1 models perform very close regardless of model type, 2000 models seems to be tad bit faster and 2001 - 2000 LS1 models are just little bit more quicker and puts down better numbers due to improved intake and exhaust manifold. It really doesn't matter what model it is. As matter of fact, one can argue that "stripper" Z28 maybe the quickest due to weighing less than other LS1 models.

Everybody need to learn more about cars.

im gonna play devils advocate bc i can. i go to the same track. on average, the 1/4 times are 2.0-2.5 more than the 1000ft for strret cars (srt-4's, GTs, LS1's....) that would be somewhere in the low to mid 13's. LS1's (modded) at the same track run 10.8-11.3's.

 

Plain and simple though his car does not run 13.5, if it was that simple everyone on Stangnet would be talking about LT1 kills and LS1 hangs all day.

After owning a 2003 GT and still knowing at least 10 people that have 99-04 GT's I know his slip is bogus (I'll post a slip from my Camaro and say it's my SS/SC) and he is full of crap.

And there is no calculator or rough estimates in the 1/8, 1/4 or 1000ft vs 1320. Ricers think the is but there isn't.

and yes there is a calculator to give a rough estimate you *******.. why dont you go spend more time on the mustang forums?? there's TONS of calculations.. plus other people's time slips to give rough estimates of a N/A car with the same 1/8 mile and 1000ft that ran a 1/4 mile.. oh yah, its only 320 more feet, so i guess that's a whole 3 more seconds?? YEAH RIGHT... 2.5 seconds AT THE MOST

the slip is real. he ran it. the almighty LS1's, modded ones at that, run that same time at the same track. the nearest 1/4 track around here is 2 1/2 hours away. an 01 SS LS1 ran an 11.2 in the 1000ft at centerville and a 13.4 in the 1/4 at memphis in the same weekend. like i said, its an AVERAGE of 2.0-2.5 difference between the 1/4 and 1000ft. i know the guy, and even he was impressed with jasons times because he saw him make that run last weekend. maybe he isnt out killing catfish, but he has beaten a WS6 and several LT1's. i was there for those. why cant you face the fact that a guy you dont know drives an 02 GT, with some bolt-ons and knows how to drive the damn thing.

 

Hes got nitrous or something else that hes not admitting to. Bolt on GT's just dont run that kinda time. The track I race it is one of the fastest in the country and I have personally witnessed a bolt on GT with DR's having a hard time getting 13.7's with 1.7 60's. So hes telling the truth with the slip, but hes not fessing up to all his mods. Or he has the absolute most gifted Mustang GT in the whole entire world.

I am so confused... in this post you say, "you are a damn good driver.", but earlier in this thread you said, "you weren't that great of a driver". Because also earlier you said, "STOCK 99-94 Mustang GTs with damn good drivers could run mid to low 13s in the quarter." Yet your MODDED GT with you as a "damn good driver" can only hit 13.5. Don't try to back-pedal, just admit it is impossible for a STOCK 99-04 GT to run mid to low 13s. The best time I have seen is 13.9 bone stock, with a 1.8 or 1.9 60ft.

 

IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE.. i'm a damn good driver, but i'm still not the greatest. hmm, that doesnt contradict itself there pal.

I'd like to see one of your car's hit 13.5's with the little amount of bolt-ons that i've got. It wont happen, you guys have no torque therefore you cant get off the line very hard.

STOCK GT's CAN RUN 13'S, even mid-low 13's.. Why is it that your car with bolt ons is running what a stock GT is supposedly capable of according to you? Are you making like 30-40 less hp/tq than a stock GT? Please answer. Stock GT's dont have the same power as stock LS1's, so its 100% impossible for them to run the same times as them (and dont say LS1's can run 12's because theres only a handful that are capable of it) unless the GT has been lightened 500 pounds. ITS JUST NOT POSSIBLE TO RUN A LOW 13 IN A STOCK PRE-'05 MUSTANG GT. Physics dictate it dude, not "ricer math".
And for the record, I dont own a Cobalt and neither does wasey. We're both smarter than that

 

Like I said, i'm not the greatest driver but I can drive pretty good. The handful of LS1's running 12's are the ones owned by awesome drivers, the same kind of driver's that put GT's to mid-low 13's. So, therefore yes they can run mid-low 13's but only with the right driver. The people who have done that are a million times better at driving than I am. The '05 GT's are big and heavy. Those things aren't THAT fast, but they are damn quick. I drove one and it didnt have the pull mine had, but maybe it was just that one.. maybe it was a "terd" haha.

Come on dude, the new Mustang GT is a legitimate mid 13 second car. The 99-04 is a high, high 13, low 14 second car. Simple as that. You said earlier you were going to find a vid of a pre-05 GT running low 13s STOCK, where is it? No where, it does not exist and never will.

 

Physics dictates everything, its more like keeping operable and accurate timing equipment at a track isnt part of arkansas.

Either that or the track is 500 feet below sea level, but I dont think thats the case.

 

That's Louisiana... but yeah no stock 99-04 GT will ever go faster then 13.8 maybe 13.7.
