You having to ***** foot around with your car to get traction while the guy in the STI absloutly romps on his car = him being way ahead by the time you finally are able to put your foot into it, this is why they generally rape you in real 1/4 mile races.

No doubt about that. Catching traction in a fwd car is like trying to catch a fart in the wind.

The STI has an extra gear to row through, and you got to spool that turbo, so the difference is understandable. Although all relevant in a race, its really only relevant if your silly enough to race from 5-60. I would also be willing to bet that the gap could be reduced if the STI was launched from a 5 mph roll, which is something I know they didn't do in that test.

Bottom line? If you find someone dumb enought to stop racing you at 60, and they don't launch from a 5 mph roll, the SS will win by a car lenght or so. Different story if the opposite is true. I've seen a couple of SS STI races, and the outcome was never in question, and although the SS put up a great fight the STI was just a little faster from the roll. As far as overal performance is concerend, well there is really no debate.

You make some good points, to further add do these magazines state how this test was conducted? Were they rolling at 5 mph and just hit the gas? If this is the case the times of the Sti and Evo are very misleading, turbo needs time to spool and if your just rolling then punch it the times will reflect lag. Now do that same test while brake boosting or keeping the rpm's high and then engage clutch...lol - The SS is a good car but to throw another number in there the Sti can go 0 to 30 in 1.5 secs, this must mean something? Why is this number so low, awd, gearing and power. I have yet to meet a SS but I hope I eventually do, it still won't be fair but I can't drop the extra 65hp and 80 lbs trq

Thumbs up

Just an update on the ECU reflash the EVO had, 20whp is about normal and 40whp would be spectacular. When I had my EVO flashed, I only picked up about 20whp and that was by one of the best EVO tuners around.

Great VIDEO! One of the best ones I've see in awhile!

2003 EVO III

Also, I think the total gain on a flash will have something to do with the amount and quality of mods you currently have. For me, when I was flashed, I had the TBE, Intake, Cams (264/264), and all the other little necessary things. I personally have never heard anyone gaining more than 30whp from a flash.

Future mod with a flash (Alchol Injection + 20g @ 27psi) - Hoping for 350whp.

Ahh, that makes sense then. The dude I raced had an Evo IX which has Mivec and a bigger turbo, stock. From what I hear they take to simple tuning very well.

Glad you enjoyed the video

God damn evo's . Thats my random hate for the week. I really want to get an evo since 5 of my friends have them but I've seen all of them go through new transfer cases and I don't really like dealing with a drivetrain that won't take a good beating in stock form.
