USMC vs 07 STi

Driving around town as usual. I pull up to a red light... I look to my left and an 07 Silver STi pulls into the lane next to me. Two guys that go to Liberty-Benton. My sister knows them, says they talk a lot of trash... Two hooligans looking for fun. We wait on the light. It shoots to green and the STi doesn't launch quite like it should... I'm up by half a car as I shift into second. The STi takes advantage of my lack of 1st gear traction and shoots right past me, putting me 3 yards behind his rear bumper. My second gear starts to pull hard and I pull myself up to their rear door. I power shift into 3rd and start to pull back some ground... my front bumper is even with the side view mirror when they let off.

We come to a T-intersection and, with me in front, we turn left. I get up to 35 and waited for the STi... but as he nears my door... I hear spoolage, so I punch it. But he had got the jump on me and pulled forward and put me at his rear bumper. We slam through our gears... but I could only pull back a few inches, and I finished at 120mph at his rear door.

He follows me a bit more and I take him out to a nice 4 lane road with no traffic. I take the right lane, and he takes the left. I try and hold it at 40+mph for the start, I honk... Once... Twice... Third time and I floor it... he beat me to the boost though, hitting the gas before me... He puts me about 2 yards behind his rear bumper and shifts to his next gear... he stops pulling away from me. We climb speed and RPM... I get ready for my shift to 3rd gear at 7k RPM - 75mph... I power shift it... leaving the gas floored and just barely pushing the clutch in enough for me to shift. I bang it into 3rd perfectly with a loud pop from the exhaust... I pull up a few inches putting myself right on his bumper... until he shifts again... then we sit even. I slap it into 4th gear with another loud pop, but pull myself no where. We both let off and call it a day.

Later the next day, I took my downpipe off to check on my cat, I had a sneaking suspicion... and it was true... my Cobalt-Addiction downpipe's Cat was empty. There was absolutely nothing in there... I guess that would help to explain some of the lose of bottom end! I guess my engine is SOOO powerful... it just blew the insides right out of the Cat!

Once cams and pistons are in... that STi is on the top of the list for revenge.

umm you do realize that your engine is probably FUCKED right. If your cat fell apart guess what happens when you dec in gear, **** gets sucked into your engine via exhaust. I would flush the entire engine, remove the cat or whatevers left of it, and do a compression/leak down test on the engine ASAP.

Yeah, I've thought about that. But, I'm getting ready to tear the whole engine apart to swap cams and pistons. So I'll check it then. And I'm pretty sure the cat emptied itself many many many months ago.

Very good story. Is that STi stock? If it was I'm surprised you did not beat him from a roll. Then again your car my not be running its best with that small problem with the cat.

It APPEARED stock... so who knows. It's funny how I was pulling on him harder in the dig race than I was in the roll races. SO I dunno. I could tell he was a pretty good driver though... very very quick shifts.

Pistons and Cams should be in with in a month, hopefully... the Cometic Head Gasket is on backorder, or so Cobalt Performance Parts is telling me. They are saying a 7 day wait on the gasket... So I either need to find someone who has it in stock... or just wait it out.

BUT, my town is flooded, and I am not going to work probably for the rest of this week. SO my bank account may take a beating, which would push my build back even further. DAMN RAIN!

He beat an improperly modded STi that with "mods" ran a 13.3 in the 1/4. He could have simply came accross a stock or Stage 2 STi. It's not like it takes much effort for an STi to be faster than a Cobalt.
