the Evo in the fast and furios 2 was an EVO VII (7) it wasnt an EVO VIII (8). just to make that clear. and yes they are fast as hell cuz i have driven one (evo VIII) and got it up to 150ishmph. and those brembo brakes work just as good as the accelerating i must say.

sexy cars i must say..

Actually, the insurance on my Evo is up there... I came from a SRT-4 and it went up like $200 for 6 months. I'm with State Farm and while my motorcycle is not too bad to insure with them, I'm sure I could do better on the Evo's insurance.

As for a GTO vs. an Evo. 2 different styles. GTO is good for straight line. Evo is gonna be better around the curves. Living in the Bay Area, I'll take the canyon carver...

For me and my wife (we are 25 yrs old, 3 cars on our policy, 05 4Runner, 03 Evo, 93 SC2) our insurance is right around $200 a month. I don't know exactly what it breaks down per car annually, but still is a great price IMO.

When we first bought the car, they had it down as a regular Lancer. Didn't have an "Evolution" as a model.

Meh, not into 4-door boxy looking sedans. EVO and STI does pack some HP but I would never buy one, they just don't look attractive to me.

I can tell you that if you got smoked by an Evo VIII from a roll, it was either an MR, or it was heavily modified! I have a friend with an Evo VIII and we drag race and autocross all the time. He always beats me by small margins in autocross, and he usually beats me by a car length or two if we drag race from a full stop. However, if we race from a roll, I ALWAYS WIN. It's true that the Evo VIII has more HP than a SS, but they come very close to each other on the dyno because all wheel drive eats tons of HP through the drivetrain. Combine that with the SS's weight advantage, and the SS actually has the superior power to weight ratio.

hi guys, i'm new to your forums. i just wanted in on this convo a little. evo's are great cars, but a lot of people get killed on insurance payments. especially if you are still in the 18-22 range. so not many people can afford them. it is an expensive car, but look what your paying for. a monster. anyways, that's why i opted for the ralliart, cheap car to buy, cheap insurance, still lots of fun in a straight line and in the curves.

anyways, i also wanted to say mad props you guys' cars. i love the cobalt ss looks and performance. i especially and surprised by the cobalt ss N/A performance. i didn't even know that there was a 2.4ltr n/a ss until i started reading these forums. anyways, i gotta go to work now.

evo RS evo VIII and evo MR are all rated the same hp. if anything the RS would be faster due to it's the lightest of the three.

To clarify, the VIII in 2005 got a bump to 276/286 for ALL 3 models. No difference in power. 05's also got the Active Center Differential. The MR has a 6 speed tranny versus the RS and VIII having a 5 speed. For 2006, the IX again got a bump in hp. In addition, they now have MIVEC, which is similiar to VTEC... Hope that helps...
