What offset would i need for my wheel to be flush with my fender with 17x8. I'm asking cause reading 1219 pages is going to take awhile.

Not. I'm a base model on coilovers and looking for a new look

 

a 35 offset will make for a very safe, flush look. If you're going to be running stretched tyres, go for a wider wheel to poke a few mm and bring it back with the stretch and some camber. My protege is very fragile to low offsets, but if I can fit 17x8 +30 on my mazda, you can fit it on a big a$$ cobalt.

And I may go with a wider wheel but I'm tired of scraping fender wells. That's why wider wheel with shorter side wall

Rubbing and coilovers don't mix. If you're rubbing, then you haven't spent enough time adjusting your fitment. Anything can be done.

 

That's why I'm looking into different wheels. And it only rubs when I hit a hard bump
