Question Drag Radials/Slicks... Post Here!

I'm in the market for some slicks/drag radials

bascially im curious what DR's/slicks people are running on here and what size wheels and slicks/DR's did they go with. Is there any perferred size on wheels (diameter/width)? Also what are your results with them?

Post up!

I have 18 inch running Yokohama Advan 048 225 40 18 enkei wheels. probably going to go with the new set of enkei 17 's and 215 50 17. I am running a big brake kit so cant go any smaller..

Where did u get the control arm bushings?

intense-racing.com kinda overpriced, but they only other vendor who sells them would be JBP and i've heard they had problems with the durability of theirs.

what is an ideal size for drag radials on the cobalt though? 16" rim? i was considering the 17" g5 gt 5 spoke aluminium wheels for radials, but i wasnt sure if that was too large or not

saab 9-3 3-spoke rims, i think 15's or 16's are primo for running slicks

My only complaint is they don't make them in a 18" or 19". They are nice looking wheels and for 60 shipped you can't beat it with a stick.

less rim more tire when your going slicks or DRs.

15s are to small to fit on the ss/sc due to the brakes.
will they fit on your 2.4?
if so, definately 15s.
the selection of slicks/drs for 15 inch rims is WAY bigger than 16s/17s

I have both types of tires,
Hoosier QTP DOT slicks and BFG Gforce Drag Radials, neither set requires a tube.

The Hoosier slicks grab better then the BFG's, the BFG's are definitely better than street tires but don't hook as well as the Hoosier slicks. I can still spin the BFG's easily, whereas the Hoosiers grab hard when warm.

The Hoosiers are 26x9.5x16, (stupid-big), pretty much the largest tire that will fit in the wheel well on a lowered car. I can only spin these if they are cold. They stand up well to burnouts.

My BFG's are 205x40x17 (I wanted the smallest tire I could find), these tires do not stand up well to burnouts (compared to the Hoosiers), they chunk and tear easily. I can spin these in every gear whether they are cold or hot.

I've been using the Hoosiers for 2 seasons, 100's of runs at the track, still have life left in them, just not as sticky as new.
The BFG's only have a couple dozen runs, I don't particularly care for them since I know how much better the slicks perform. I don't think these will last as long, or maybe just don't do burnouts and they'll last much longer.

I thought I would have got higher traps or something with the bfg's but it didn't make a significant difference, my et's and traps remained consistent with either tire. (the bfg's were spinning often so I was losing something there I guess).

fwiw..... Hoosier Daddy?
good luck!

I'm running Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials, P255/50R16. They work great, My best 60' was a 1.9 but I think they hurt my topend a bit. As for the wheels I have American Racing wheels, cant remember the name, I work at a tire shop so I just called our distributor and said to send the cheapest 16" rims they had lol.

The BFG's are mounted on a set of 17" American Racing wheels, the Hoosiers are on SAAB 16" steelies.

Is your vehicle an SS/SC or a 2.4SS?
If its the latter, can you run a 15" wheel? that would be my choice if I could fit one on my car.....
