Angry Transmission= TOAST?

So this was a steady increasing problem with my transmission that started almost a year ago. The traction control off light comes on and then the car will jerk really hard between gears. Even from Drive to park u can see the car jerk when you shift it. Its an automatic transmission. My guess is that its done for. Any idea of what could be happening. my car only has 45xxx miles on it so I'm hoping they will cover it under warranty but you never know. Chances are they will blame me and not cover it. Typical GM.

has anyone else experienced this?

replace the clutch packs. Your tranny is increasing line pressure to save what little of the clutch discs there is left IIRC

I'm not sure what type of warranty you have but mine is 3 years/36k miles. So if I was in you shoes I'd be sol. I'd go to a dealer and find out if its covered. As far as the intake goes that wouldn't have caused the trans. to fail so it shouldn't be a problem.

you dont have any CELs do you? MAF is working right? I think I remember something along the lines of the transmission shifting really hard when it can't get an engine load signal from the MAF sensor

Yes the MAF can effect the trans. When I 1st got my car, I tried making a intake for it an ended up puttin the MAF in backwards. Traction light, no Check engine, came on and trans shifted very firm. Would bark the tires from 1st to 2nd. Figured out what I did and put the MAF in correctly and it fixed all my probs

i dont think my MAF sensor is in backwards because the screw holes only line up one way. and i use to have this problem at a smaller extent before the new intake with the traction control light but no engine light, it usually went away on its own.

the 3 year/36k miles warranty is for the bumper to bumper warranty. The powertrain is 5 year/100k miles for ALL cobalts, 05 and up

so if you only have 45k sounds like its a warrenty issue and should be covered

type in 2005 chevrolet cobalt powertrain warranty, then do it for 06,07,08,09, powertrain is the same and comfirmed on 10 sites for each year, this isnt rocket science

i have an 07 Pontiac g5 gt with the automatic transmission. Traction control came on and the check engine light came on the same time i installed my header/down-pipe combo (catless). My trans does the same thing yours does now and the dealership told me that the O2 sensor in my down-pipe is blown, there is a rub in my exhaust that is blowing the traction control fuse causing the firmer shifts. Told me 300 for he O2 sensor and my exhaust needs bent to prevent the rub that is blowing my fuse. I dont know where the rub is and they couldnt tell me. So i would check your Traction control fuse to see if its blown and go from there.
