there should be a plug, i THINK it's on the water pump or by the water pump at least. to totally drain it also disconnect the radiator hose. not 100% on that, but it's worth taking a look

Mkulrey13 is putting a Garrett turbo kit on his car. I'm guessing he's pulling the engine bay apart to prepare for the installation. Not sure why he needs to dissassemble the cooling system, but I'm guessing there's a valid reason...

Well yes and no, i DO need to drain the coolent to install my turbokit adn the turbo is oil AND water cooled. But im doing it to install my water temp sender in the hose. Saves me a few bucks from the shop whos doing the install for me on the turbo.

Im installing a adapter in the upper hose, would it hurt to pinch of an area and cut between the pinched areas and install my adatper? do i have to worry about bubbles in teh system or will they work them selfs out?

bump!

COOLANT!!!! not coolent lol

Anyway, the fastest way is probably to just remove the lower radiator hose and let it drain into a pan. Take the cap off the coolant jug and it'll drain a little quicker.

Also, the system will bleed it self out. After you're finished, bring the car up to operating temperature, rev. it up to around 2500 rpm a few times, then shut the car off and let it cool down. The air bubbles should work them selves out after a couple times heating up and cooling off.

there should be a petcock on the right-hand side (passanger) of the radiator......jack up the car, put a drain pan under the plug...open it and drain. Be sure to have the cap off the coolant jug when doing it, it'll drain faster.

here's a pic....look for that little plug on the bottom right

yes, if you want to drain the coolant from the block also, you will want to open the plug on the bottom of the water pump. For what you want to do, you will be fine with just draining through the radiator

yea, they say that becuase if you have some dirty water come out of the hose bib and then put that in the radiator, it could clog up the cooling system.

You can use regular water but I highly recommend distilled water. Tap water with all the minerals in it can and will lead to electrolysis within the cooling system.

no.....that's pretty much why the coolant just has a vent tube, to bleed off pressure/air
