I want a sportier car and she doesn't care so if I have to drive a "familymobile" from time to time it midas well be fun. If she don't want another 2 black eyes she will take what I give her! j/k

Yeah the HHR SS is a pretty damn good deal, dont be mad if the SS 'Balt has a higher price tag though. Its got Brembo's, the HHR doesnt.

John Heinrecy said again with the development of this SS anf the HHR SS , they had 6 speed mules and they were slightly slower with the 6 speed and no better mpg over the F35 . They had 6-speed LSJ mules pre-2004 that had the same conclusion . To bad its an economy car and has to pick from a parts bin of pre-exsisting parts , I think it could have benfited from a properly geared 6 speed . The F40 from the 9-3/9-5 and G6 is not that great of a trans .

The Cobalt should be about the same as the HHR even with the Brembo's . And at that price it should have the LSD standard(but doesnt) . The MS3 gets one included for base price at under $23K .

Has anyone driven one yet? I run the vehicle locator and it shows quite a few dealers have them in stock.

Wtf?!?

According to GM's website:
HHR
SS 1SS
MSRP* $22,995.00
According to GM Canada's website:
HHR
SS 1SS
MSRP* $28,240.00
Are we Canadians still gonna get screwed over?

Edit:
I did a quick extrapolation of HHR vs Cobalt values... I'm going to assume that the Cobalt SS/TC will be about $21,000 USD, and about $26,500 CAD.

It should be close to the same base for the Cobalt , as the Brembo brakes are standard on the Cobalt and optional on the HHR .

Drove one today and I can say I would not buy one. The way you sit in the HHR does not lend its self to performance driving, the angles are just weird. It doesnt seem to make power till about 3500 rpms and tops out at around 7 grand makin about 15 psi all the way through. Also I now know why they designed in the no lift shift system. I didnt try the system out but every time I shifted the car just fell on its face till the boost picked back up. I'm sure with 15 psi at all times that little 2.0 would rip right through the gears. Cant wait for the SS/TC to show up so I can try that one out.

A very interesting impression. The Solstice GXP's and Saturn Sky RedLine's we've worked with (same engine) produce boost at much lower RPM.

I would not be surprised if the engine's very sophisticated control system (which can also limit and adapt boost pressure) is keeping the power reduced until the vehicle is broken in. I am presuming this car had low miles on it at the time of your test drive?

montecarloman - How did u hold 15 psi to 7K rpm , the fuel cut off is 6300 . Is the HHR tach that off ? Dont the LNF's peak closer to 17-19 psi at redline ?

The Solstice/Sky also do this same thing. It doesn't surprise me that the HHR is doing this too.

Bout 3 miles, fresh off the truck

I was kind of fighting tq steer in traffic, I glanced at the tach it looked like 7 grand at the moment. But then again I had a school bus on my left and a civic on my right so I was paying more attention to them. I got a good look at the boost gauge though maxed at 15 psi. That would lead me to believe the car has a break in program.
