2009 shifter linkage upgrade
2009 shifter linkage upgrade
I was hoping to tighten up my shifter with a new shifter assembly for 2009 SS TC sedan. 150k miles. the part is discontinued. I went ahead and got the 15257212 part number for the M86 trans bc I saw someone say its much better but takes a little modification. Anyone done these modifications?? Would love to hear about it.

The one you purchased is for the M86, which is the Cobalt with the F23 manual transmission. I think to use that you need to buy the F23 shifter, and even then I don't think if that shifter is compatible with the LNF F35 shifter cables. I do know for sure that the F23 shifter cables are not compatible with the LNF F35 transmission. To use that shifter box you would either have to modify the pivot cup to allow the F35 shifter to fit, or use the F23 transmission, F23 clutch, F23 transmission mounts, f23 shifter cables, and he F23 shifter. If I was in your shoes I would buy the replacement pivot cup and solid base bushings from OTTP and use the original shifter box. the replacement pivot cup really does bring it back to life.
