Sup guys? Jus wondering if anyone else's CV boot is starting to make that clicking noise while turning? I don't know if it was the heat and heat from the brakes that helped tear it or maybe some hard steering, but anyways mines going bad. I'm wondering if I should just buy the parts and DIY it or find a specialist. What would you guys suggest?

 

You're boot is probably torn and is leaking axle grease. The C/V joint itself is probably fine as long as you don't drive around too long like that. Buy a replacement boot and some grease. Pop the axle and get the new boot on there packed with grease. Once greased the clicking will go away. Have fun I hate doing C/V joint boots...

 

did my cv boots, pain in the ass better off getting axles.

 

Yea I know it's gonna be a pain in the butt, but I'm wondering if replacing the axles would be worth it. And even then should I get stock ones or upgraded ones since I do like to go to the track.

 

Trust me its worth it. Lol when I get some money im gonna buy them also.

 

Did you forget you have a powertrain warranty?

 

cv boots are not hard if you know what you are doing. i did mine in about an hr that tare apart and put together but again i can pull in engine in 4 hours and tare it apart in the same day.

 

No didn't forget but pretty sure their not gonna honor it when they see I'm bolted front to back. :/ I'm confident that the boot replacement shouldn't take that long I just hope it's not the actual cv joint that's making the clicking...

 

Your gonna need basic tools and a 2 jaw puller

 

It's most likely the joint. When they run dry of grease, they click. It doesn't mean the joint is shot, as long as you don't drive on it much like that you can just get some fresh grease and a boot on there and be fine.

 

The only thing is that it's my DD, so the only time this thing is still is while im at work or at home. Im thinking about getting some grease, a universal boot, and some metal ties and just cutting off the current boot, greasing the crap out of the joint, and wrapping it in the boot. it would be easy and give me enough time to save up for stronger axles.

 

Yep, that's definitely a short-term option if you want to save up for those axles. I've had bad lukc with those on a different car I owned, but that was 15 years ago or so, hopefully they've gotten better.
