Stock as a rock!

This is my daily driver, so I don't want to go too radical. This and maybe some Pedders springs are my only planned mods.

Well,I've been searching around here and it seems that it usually take from 15 to about 45 for just the ecu reflash. With any luck I will have the kit tomorrow mid morning and install it after work. Anything I need to know before install? I know I have to grind that boss off but anything else? Would I be same driving this about 30 miles in bumper to bumper traffic? I know not to go into boost.

Safe* not same lol

the reflash might take 15-45 minutes - but they charge a minimum (or at least this is the standard) of an hour to do it ~ probably incase something goes wrong;
They should reflash, take the car for a test drive to make sure everything worked/uploaded correctly, then be done.

I would suggest that you allow yourself at least an hour to an hour and a half to do the install - assuming your'e mechanically inclined.
don't rush;
make sure to have the new MAP's seated properly before tightening them down.
the screws holing the lower MAP are a PITA to get out and reinstall (only one used on the new MAP) ~ it's all about space constraints.

As I mentioned earlier, I observed the need to enlarge the boss for my upper MAP ~ it might be specfic to my intake where the boss might have been drilled off center ~ I needed to have my bolt hole enlarged because the center seemed to be over about 1/4"

Well looks like UPS will be dropping it off today there's only 2 sensors that comes with the kit. 1 sensor for the intake mani and 1 sensor that goes in the intercooler pipe? Right? The 'boss' is the little notch that needs to be grinded off right?

when I get the kit and look at it and see what everything looks like this,it will prolly make more sense lol when I get home from work today I will look at the new sensors and look at the stock sensors in the car and prolly know what you mean.

I will have to drill out the hole in one of the new sensors in order for the screw to fit to mount it correctly, along with grinding off the 'boss'. Right?

I didn't drill it out. You just squeeze it in there and the sensor sits kinda crooked. The instructions even say it, as you can see in the thread.

I've only mentioned this like four times in this thread... but don't worry, if you ignored me, you wouldn't be the first.

GMS1 w/ a catless DP really makes the car into a whole different beast from completely stock. And you still have warranty, you will love it!

UPS just stopped by and dropped my GMS1 kit off

just called the dealership to see if they could squeeze me in tonight but instead of rushing things,im just going to go there and talk to one of the 2 tech's that are there until 8pm. see if we can figure out how long it will take to do the reflash, since no one at the dealership has ever done a GMS1 reflash before.

i cant wait!!!

i opened the box and the 2 TMAP sensors have thee GREEN O-rings on them and then i look at the rest and the kit came with 2 SPARE BLUE O-rings. same size as the GREEN O-rings.

is this a courtesy thing or will i need to use the BLUE O-rings somewhere else on the install?

i wish UPS would dropped it off about an hour ago,id be on my way to the dealership to get reflashed!! lol

I took the green ones off and replaced them with the blue ones.

ok,i will do that also.

is there any difference between the green and blue?

now that i have the kit, when you mounted the one on the intercooler piping,is that the one where you have to drill the mounting hole out? what did you do to get the metal instert out of the sensor?

i stopped into the dealership. first thing they said "i think this might void you warranty" until i showed them the GM performance bags that the sensors and stuff came in lol but they were cool,i talked with one of the techs for like 20 minutes.

i will be getting off work early tomorrow. fly home and put the sensors in,then drive carefully to the dealership to get the reflash

they said the most it would take would be an hour but they charge half hour at a time. but im sure it will end up taking an hour since the dealership has never done a reflash on a cobalt before.

i bet work is going to crawlllllllll byyyyy tomorrowwww but its suppose to be nice out!! cant wait!!

Let us know how GMS1 runs with your intake. I heard bad things (well not bad, but the intake doesnt help i guess?), which is why Ive never got the K&N SRI...

well my whole plan was to get a trifecta tune but ive been in the dealership for some warranty work 4 times in the last 2-3 months but i bought the K&N SRI before i started having warranty issues lol so now that i have the intake,i miswell put it on.

after i get reflashed i will put my intake an DP on. i guess disconnecting the battery speeds up the process for the the car to recognize the mods. if thats true or not,IDK.

but i will let ya know

well..i called the dealership today as i was told to do yesterday when i wento the dealership to talk to them about the GMS1,they told me yesterday to call today and 'we will get ya in and reflashed' well that didnt happen. i called and talked to some braud that sounded like a total cu*t. so now i have to wait until monday

of course this ***** my whole plan up tomorrow which consisted of throwing my summer tires on (just had them painted black) and to put my intake and DP on.

ive called 3 other dealerships and theyre booked for the rest of the day.

i talked to a dealership who could get me in tomorrow but i brought up that you might have to call GM directly and thats when they said GM is only open M-F.

so im fucked until monday

added my K&N after the stg 1 tune was on the car for over a month. Seemed to have better throttle response and most definitly sound better
