Okay so I got my intake yesterday and the things not symetrically round at the elbow? did anyone else notice this or is mine a defect? will post pics soon...

Im still installing it to see if it really makes a difference but still. How the heck do I end up with the faulty one? lol.

UPDATE:

here are the photos. Did anyone elses intake look like this out of the box?

its liken flattened on one side. I wasnt sure if I got a defective product or the thing was damaged during shipping... the Powder coating is solid however, no brakes in that. SO it leads me to believe it should be like this? Im sure they would inspect each product before shipping out. But did anyone else notice this?

My concern is that this will definately play with the cfm's.
Just found a bigger concern, , The coupler barely fits over it

UPDATE:

Okay I just fixed the pipe myself, I definately saw it as a problem since the coupler wouldnt fit over it and when I finally did get the couple over it, it had a space...
I took a solid funnel made of a hard plastic, cut it down and put it inside the bastardized K&N intake and used a hammer to bang it back into circumfrence.

now im going to go install it, lmao.

well on a quick adjustment from BYT, I headed to the track for some fun. First run the car went 12.4 at 114.5 with a 1.9 60. I was like ok so I picked up a mph or so. Two runs later on a 1.83 60 foot went 12.16 at 116.25mph. Can't wait to get it dialed in.

box was not damaged. I couldnt believe that slipped by them. By the way, intake sounds amazing, lol. I gotta go test drive it now! and It wont leak.

P.S.> FOR THoSE who get this intake. MAKe SURE TO pay CLOSE attention to how the mounting bracket is installed! I put it on backwards and it didnt align!!! I made like 3 mistakes during the install which required me to remove and reinstall the heatshield 3 times. It is a pain in the ass to install and uninstall the heat shield. lol.

Also the sensor was REALLY close to the rubber fitting that goes over the heat shield. Cause me a few install issues when following their instructions.

Also. Noticed there was a good deal of oil in my turbo

well from what I understand it looks like there should be two screw holes located where the bracket is at least and you should be able to mount the intake bracket to that since it comes with new screws.

P.S. - make sure everything is aligned up when the intake is in place before committing and securing in the heat shield/ mounting bracket.

I wouldnt worry about, K&N made a mount for people who dont have the bracket, you just have to call them

I sort of skipped to the end of this topic... Did they list a $$ for this thing? Looks pretty good.

just installed my K&N set-up as I received it on Friday, sounds amazing and I also do not have the two holes for that mounting bracket.Guess I will be calling K & N as I 'm sure they have some sort of bracket. You can actually hear the turbo spool, seems to run great,no codes as of yet but really haven't driven it alot either.

That's F'n sweet Miller! To pick up 3 MPH, in most likely worse DA/temp just goes to show that you're really letting her breathe well up top!

I need to buy one of these goddamn it...

haha I love it, really brings out the turbo spool with the 3" DP. The cold start up is rEALLY louD! Who else here believes it sounds like a jet fighter taking off when you start your car in the morning? lol. Open you hood and check it out next time. I also notice a grinding noise coming from the turbo? not sure if that normal but it seems to go away as the car warms up. You can hear it when the PSI level is just at 0.

yeah I wish they would give us somewhat of an idea on what price is going to be, so I can make sure that I have enough in paypal when they are ready to do the group buy.

im waiting for more logging to be done, or the vram to be complete. I like SRI's vs CIA because my DD is exposed to lots of puddles and ocassional standing water in bad storms.

if everything looks good, ill be doin this and a ZZP intercooler

I've been monitoring my short fuel trims and I havent seen anything extreme 10.0 was the highest spike I've ever seen so far. On average I see between -3.5 and 4.0.

nope, stock tune.

Although with this intake, I can hear a strange grinding noising coming from under the hood when the boost gauge needle floats around 0 psi. I'm alittle concerned about that. I wonder if my turbo is going up? It shouldnt, its stock.
