New Guy with a few questions

So I just picked up a Turbo SS from a dealer. It's not stock so I was wondering what kinda horsepower gains if any were attained by the previous owner. It has a Hahn exhaust. How far back I don't know. The intake was changed as well as the turbo piping to the intercooler. When I shift into second it feels like the car wants to go all over the place. Could be my shifting or something. Any help would be nice.

the shifting into second thing is called torque steer, all these cars do it. That just what happens on a high hp fwd car. How much boost does the car make?

if you are spinning like crazy in 2nd you are more than likely tuned. either hpt or trificta...I think you can ask vince and he would know if he tuned that car or not

Put the car on a lift or jackstands and look at the exhaust from the turbo to the rear of the car to see what kind of downpipe you have. If your car runs significantly over 15psi of boost (21-22psi+) then you are most likely tuned with Trifecta performance or HP tuning software. How much boost is your car producing? Also, if you don't know the brand of the intake and intercooler piping, take a picture and maybe we can help you out.

GM Stage 1 tunes can go up to like 22psi as well guys. The boost pressure isnt a really reliable indicator of what tune it is, it is just an indicator that the car is tuned. You can try and email Vince to see if he has tuned it but he is really busy so don't expect a very timely reply. Find someone with HPtuners, have them try and do a 'Read Only' on your car (since that doesn't cost any credits). If you can pull the file then it is most likely a HP or a GMstage1 tune. Trifecta tunes will be locked and it will not allow you to pull the file. If you have the HP guy datalog it for you, watch to see how much knock there is. If it was a reputable HP tuner that tuned it in the first place, there should be none. GMs1 tunes can show a ton of knock, I think I saw like 9degrees once... ridiculous!

The piping is Hahn. I haven't really gotten the chance to look the car over. I have no idea what the boost is. I am too busy trying not to run off the road. I will look today. Thanks for the help guys

It even wants to come out from under me at around 60. I went pass this guy and was almost thrown into him because of the torque steer.

Yeah I figured as much. I didn't expect it to have a ton of horsepower.

Yeah i just went from a m62@253 BYT Tuned to the new turbo swap at around 350-370ish area @20psi and i gained a SHITLOAD of torque steer. Good thing about that is i know how to control and apply it. Most of these kids cant and thats proven by what most of them run with over 300hp at the track.

Unfortunately when it comes back from zzp it will be around 500-600ish and thats going to change things a bit

Take it easy and work your way up your pedal is your friend learn how to use it.

i has no torque steer over 400 Its most likely hp tuned since you dont have to activate the tune like you do with trifecta im guessing...this is just my guess though

Trifecta does basic tunes as well with no switch on and off feature.

Just cause he breaks free near 60mph and has massive torque stear doesnt really indicate anything. My GMS1 does that. IF your ready for it its not a big deal. although spinning the tires at highway speed is something to pay attention to
Being fully bolted i would gues its not a GM tune though... If you can break free in THIRD gear above 60mph i would agree it is an aftermarket tune though.

There are multiple determining factors on what kind of tune he has based on traction. It could have a smoother boost ramp to try and keep the stock clutch alive. There is also Temperature, tires, and how clean the roads were.
