Quirks/Ups and Downs of TC's
Just a tune, the TC is a beast, go all hahn, water/meth or (maybe a 50 or 75 shot) and you have a nasty beast
STI's, EVO's, csrt-4, ms3's you name it will bow at your feet, unless they are insanely modded too

hehehe.
Had a guy with a piggy back and 650 cc injectors keep up with a procharged camaro from 50-120
tune, IC piping upgrade, down pipe, CAI, FMIC upgrade, meth injection, and I think that about covers it.
Maybe some DR's for the track?
needless to say that 450 HP camaro was pretty pissed

On paper it is a clear win for the Cobalt SS/TC...The RX8 is nice, but doesnt have the grunt to keep up.
One of the primary reasons I bought my SS/TC was that I had read an article saying it had recorded the fastest FWD production car time around the Nurburgring.
My 2004 E46 BMW M3 lapped the ring in a time of 8 min 22 sec...and that car means buisness......so imagine my surprise when I found out that the SS/TC recorded the EXACT same time around the ring. That was a clear indicator that this was a great handling car and I made the decision to buy one. As an owner of both, I can tell you that in both performance and handling, its neck and neck.
So if you are looking at cars to compare its handling to, start with the E46 BMW M3's

Well I am looking for the best car all around for the cheapest. In the looks and design of the RX8 it kills the SS personally. I LOVE the way the RX8 looks. In performance the Cobalt beats it. I am leaning towards the RX8 but I still dont know.
I thought the RX8 looked okay, but if you look at the front end with its wheel arches and hoodline, it's pretty phallic-looking. It's all a matter of personal taste.
Also in manual gearbox form, the Mazda returns an SUV-like fuel economy of 16/22mpg vs the SS's 22/30mpg.
Wankel engines have a reputation for leaking around the apex seals, but then again any abused engine without proper maintenance will have similar problems.

10 year warranty - boo ya! Must be first owner to get that though...

I love my 'balt though - it's a toss up.

and very underwhelming torque, poor fuel economy, and it relies on burning oil to stay alive. all at the cost of smoothness, the ecotec is very smooth for a 4 cylinder and comes pretty quiet, I had to make mine louder
and I don't have to burn oil to keep my engine alive
