Thats pretty impressive, i knew when i took one for a drive that it would take a bolt on tage 2 to tie one! Wait til the aftermarket gets on this car, it will be crazy!

when someone claims brake horsepower they dont mean at the brakes, but rather at the flywheel, the brake was just a mechanism they used for measurment.

although there are no wheels on the car, the dynapacks numbers are meant to be at the wheels. a dynapack actually measures torque where as a dynojet calculates horsepower based on the amount of time it takes to accelerate a drum. the biggest advantage of the dynapack is the steady state feature. this allows to dyno to lock the car at a certain rpm, and by applying a load to counteract the engine. This load forced the motor to sustain the same rpm but increases the load on the motor(imagine going uphill, more throttle but rpm doesnt move much). This allows the tuner to hit cell's on the tuning software they wouldnt normally be able to simulate without a load bearing dyno.

I thought it was original termed because they tested engines on water brake dynos

newer higher end dynojets have dynobrakes as well.

it was a mechanical band brake. yes you can fit a dynojet with an eddy current brake but with higher torque car trying to hold the rollers back tends to product tire slip.

good info to know about dynos and such. Just goes to show that every dyno is different and unless 2 cars are measured on the same dyno, numbers are just numbers. It's more of a tuning tool.

Care to elaborate? Shoot me a PM. I know the shop owner, Ryan D, very well. Their shop is no joke, nor their projects...

Thanks for the dyno post! This is great news. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these detuned electronically for the first 500 or so miles? I noticed that you dyno'ed at a pretty young age. Like to see another dyno at around 600-700 miles.

Thanks again!

I believe that the first 500 miles are "sugar coated" by the PCM, I'd also like to see results after the car has a few more miles on it...

i have personally witnessed an old shop car being held at 100mph on a mustang dyno. the said car put down 1130 to all for wheels. no slip. also used 8 chains, and 4 straps to hold it.
