I don't know why I"m even getting into this but the question was posted in the 2008-2009 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC section. Meaning the original poster is looking for answers from others with a SS/TC not SS/SC owners. TC owners might think they are the **** but they aren't posting this in the general Cobalt section for everyone to read. Only the TC people, and if you actually look at what forum you are responding to, it might help limit these discussions from getting so far off topic, and having multiple postings like this one.

And whatever the case is GM has designed the TC for No lift Shifts. This is an actual feature. If you are not in a 08-09 SS/TC this is more referred to as speed shifting and is much harder on the clutch and syncros of the transmission, so yes I would think it is more violent for you guys. Either way I don't see how this would be good to repeatedly do in any car.

They make a special thing called the wot box which can include two things including 2 step and NLS so technically not just for the TC. Also does it really matter hes just wondering if people that do NLS feel jerkiness from 1-2 up-shift. People are giving their experiences and I see TC owners in the SC postings all the time. Its a damn cobalt site and everyone is here to help out but people take **** out of hand for no reason. Cant we all just get along lol. No hate for you but just pointing **** out. Thanks

To the OP it could just be because maybe your rpms are not all the way up there. I hear alot of people have this problem where you have to take it to redline so it doesnt give you whiplash.

Lets see pics to prove that you have a TC! Or are you just on a forum for no reason?

I don't think I have any of my 1-2 NLS's on video. They go "POW!" really loud. I like them.

No... you just have to be quick.

Give it a shot sometime. Start out WOT shifting 3-4... that's the easiest to do. Once you get good at doing 2-3 quickly when not WOT... try doing it WOT.

Its also been called Powershifting.
First video on your 1-2...was that a clutch slip or did your tires let go a second time? As for the rest ya that 3-4 on the second video is definitely audible .

As for the OP yes the 1-2 on the TC using no-lift can be violent, and as best I can tell there's really nothing you can do about it. If the tires let go in first you're up **** creek, and if they hold the rev difference between 1st and 2nd is going to get you every time.

So I've been wondering the same thing as the OP about the 1-2 shift. Is it better to not NLS from 1-2, or should I just not worry about the jerkiness?

x2

but anyways, from my experience with my car, the 1-to-2 shift is obviously the hardest to hit smoothly. if you do it too early, the rpms will spike a bit and if you wait too long, youll hit the rev-limiter before you get a chance to shift. its just about the timing. ive only done it a few times because i havent been to a track and the weather has been shitty. im sure with some practice everyone will get it down. i havent had my car al that long eaither, which im sure alot of owners are in the same boat.

My 2.4 shifts smooth from 1-2 while powershifting.

2nd-3rd is my favorite.
