Wearing rear brakes? Come in
I will get those numbers tomorrow when i am back at work
Alright, around 19,900mi, after rotating my tires, I noticed my inboard pads on the rear brakes were at 2mm or less. This was a 4mm change in less than 6,000mi of reasonably spirited driving. I also noticed between 18,000 and 19,000mi, the parking brake auto-adjuster was going nuts on me.
20,160mi: Dealership was able to machine the rotors (and man... they're smooth now), and replaced the pads with the GM part from Saab. I spoke to the Performance Technician, and he inspected the parking brake adjustment as requested, but also noted that the pins were "bone-dry" so the brakes were not releasing fully.
He also asked if I was a bit of an aggressive driver, to which I smiled a bit, and replied with "when the time and place is right, and the road is open..." but whatever.
Hopefully this helps.

After reading this thread I decided to take a close look at the rear brakes on my 2009 SS with 4000 miles on it.
The rear rotors appear to be wearing evenly inside and out. Although I can feel some grooves starting to form on the inside surfaces.
I then removed the pins from the rear calipers. They were dry so I lubed them up with some high temp grease.

So my dealer just told me they are going to replace my rear rotors and pads under warranty and that they are about 4 days out. I thought I read somewhere that rotors were 3 months out?? I hope the dealer is right! They told me they had to pull some strings to get the parts under warranty since I am at 16k miles. I don't consider myself lucky because this problem shouldn't have happened anyway. But I'm happy I didn't have to raise a fuss at least.
Yea, a few days ago (when hearing some grinding) I felt the passenger's side rear rotor. GROOVED to ****. So I go in for my oil change and have them look at it. The tech can't believe how scored the rotors were! So they go on a MISSION to get the brake pads from one dealership and go to ANOTHER delaership for the rotors. I was at the place for over 5 hours. I got a free oil change and tire rotation for my time. Class act by Pine Belt Chevy in Freehold, NJ.
AND, I didn't have to pay a dime.
AND, the rotors and pads were sent to Chevy for inspection due to the fact they were replaced under warrantee. The pads had like metal chunks in them that scored the hell out of the rotors.
BEST PART about it - there is no TSB on these. I saw the sheet the tech showed me. It has WHAT TO DO: Tell the customer that it is a high performance brake system that should have high wear and make noises sometimes. It said WHAT NOT TO DO Replace the pads/rotors.
Well I got em replaced. Class act.

There fixed it for you.
Chevy needs to stop ignoring this problem. There are far too many people with this issue.
Due to high performance pads? Then why aren't we seeing this on the front rotors? There are enough people now with this issue in cars that are just over a year old now that they can't even keep the rotors in stock! That says there is a BIG problem here, and its bullshit they are blaming it on so-called high performance brakes. And they wonder why they are having issues getting people to get over the idea that American cars are low quality. Yes I'm pissed off, because I now have a car sitting in my driveway that I cannot drive, and won't be able to drive for an unknown period of time until the rotors are back in stock, and GM wont warranty the work when I have about 24k on the car so no rental. I'm driving my 88 ford F250 (3speed towing trans and gearing, I can WATCH the gas needle drop) for now...

I noticed my rear passenger rotor wearing funny at around 1,500 miles. The car has around 4,000 miles on it now and the passenger rotor is pretty bad and the driver side rotor looks like it is going to do the same thing. The driver side pillar molding started leaking and the sunroof has had a rattle since I bought it, so I took it in for warranty work on 2nd and will be picking it up today. When I talked to the service manager on the phone on the 6th he said he was waiting for some parts and was going to replace the brakes and rotors. Not sure if he is doing both sides. If I get there before he leaves today I'm going to ask him a bit more about the situation.
There fixed it for you.

I agree with you 100% - I just had a good dealer that took care of my issue. If they hadn't or chose to ignore it - I would step right alongside you.
As for the bullshit, how about the inaction on the Stage 1 LNF upgrade - that's bullshit.

were no on back order
FINALLY got them fixed. Although if it happens again, I'm just going to replace everything with aftermarket. Most likely Hawk HPS+PowerSlot rotors. Attached is the final invoice. It might be helpful to somebody in this thread:

PM me if you want a higher res version of it!

Also, for options on the rotors here is the sticky with all the part numbers and alternates found so far, please post in here if you have new information! Ive been updating this post as we get more information.. Still waiting on the rear rotors for a saab I ordered (to see if they work)

I showed Dee Seven at CAC that service form and he was speechless so he's going call the dealership to find out why they fixed it because he doesn't believe its a warranty item. Could every one that has had it repaired please post the dealership name, city and state, and a phone number for the dealership.
This seems to finally be going somewhere. It was funny to read him what the system says about rear brakes and not to fix them and what to tell the customer he laughed. I LOVE THIS SITE.
Oh and again, if anyone has the service form the dealership gave you please post it.
If it comes down to it you can mail a copy to me and I'll post it for everyone else.

mine will go in this friday for pads, rotors, camshaft sensor leak, and broken trunk button compartment.
I had an oil change when the they ordered the parts, and i watched a doofus put 6.5 quarts of oil in the SS before I piped up and asked him, "you put in 5 quarts right?"
dealer tech -"I thought these took 6.5qt....."
me - "glad i was paying attention" "this car has a different oil pan"
he shamefully grabbed the oil catcher
