There could be several 8" and 7.5" wide wheels in a 5x110 they already sell that fit , without a car their clueless

For those mostly interested in winter rims (e.g. not expensive, and 17 inch), I was able to get setup with BSA rims and 3mm spacers (tiny). In fact the spacer wasn't required, but the clearance was really close (1-2 mm), so the spacers are there "just in case".

I have rims on my 08 ss/tc! they are Stern wheels. St11 i think...? they were real close to clearing, but i had to put a quarter inch spacer on to clear. they were seriously only about a millimeter off from clearing the brakes...

Lets just agree that there are wheels that clear the brakes WITH spacers...however, not everyone is willing to do this for fear of damage to the bearings...

The title of this should be "who makes wheels that clear the brembos WITHOUT SPACERS"...

Looking at Tire Rack today, I did a search to see what wheels clear the brembos on the likes of the WRX STI and the EVO.

I also did a search on what fits the Sport model Cobalt as there is a posting here that says someone fit 17" Sport model rims on their SS/TC with minimum clearance so they were going to run 3mm spacers.

Anyway, Tire Rack has a wheel that has our bolt pattern 5X110 and also clears the Brembos from the STI. My conclusion is the spokes should be able to clear the Brembos on our cars if they clear the Subie's. They are the Elbrus 105's which by coincedence are $105.00. Perfect for a winter rim.

Before anyone flames on this - the offset and backspacing measuremts weren't available. All I'm saying is that this rim comes in a 5X110 bolt pattern for the Cobalts, and also clears Brembos - yet from another car. Draw your own conclusions.

Gravana sells ALT Sektors originally meant for the WRX, does 5x110 inserts in place of the 5x100 pattern, and rebores the hubs to fit our cars.

These wheels have a lot of caliper clearance, I've printed out the Baer track system template and still have at least a 1/2" of clearance everywhere. Might be worth a call to see if they have any thoughts.

Um, what problems would he run into?

If need be I will get some longer studs to compensate for the spacers. I spoke with a brake engineer and he said I would be safe.

Plus you only have to run the spacers up front.

I'm really not worried about 3mm spacers up front. That's tiny. Anyhow what are the options now when the snow falls in a few weeks? I can put snows on the old rims and risk damage to the TPMS sensors, which happens often, I suppose, not to mention risk corrosion of those nice summer rims. Or, maybe I should just skate on the snow using my summer tires

I'll see if I can embed the photos directly, without doing each one.. Not sure if it will work.

See all winter rim photos in the link below. I've indicated where the spacer is, that there is enough diameter with a 17 inch rim, and enough space for the brembos.
