Yeah I am sure you will be very pleased. The SS/TC is a great car with tones of potential.

If anybody is interested, I talked with a Enkei rep about some light weight wheels for our 5X110 bolt pattern. They are comeing out with a new wheel, no pictures yet, the end of Sept. that will be lighter than their present RPF1 wheel, the 17X8.5 weighs 16 lbs. with several other widths, and he says it WILL fit over the Brembos. They will retail slightly higher than the RPF1's which is reasonable. One problem. They haven't decided if they are going to include our 5X110 pattern in this wheel. He said the more interest they get the better the possibility they will build it. If you're interested in some light weight wheels, I am, give a call to Enkei and ask for a rep named King. Tell him you want a light wheel for your SS/TC. The number is 800-875-3100. It's worth a try. No?

How heavy is a stock wheel?

RPF1 is roughly 15.5 lbs

Man that's a lot of weight reduction. Not only do you get the weight loss on the drive wheels, but the entire car loses 40lbs.

The RPF1 in a 17 X 5/114.3 X 8.5" is advertised at 16#. I've read that every pound you can save on wheel weight is equal to 20 # off the car weight in performance gains. I KNOW they will increase acceleration

So that's saying we would gain about 2 tenths in the quarter mile by switching

Sounds about right. With the weight reduction you'll probably need stickier tires to keep them from going up in smoke. If they don't already. I took my SS to an 1/8th mile last week. The track was slick as snot on a door knob. I spun all the way through 1st and half way through 2nd. I'd like to think the car is really that good stock but I THINK I know better.

So I'm in the pits fooling with the front tire pressure on the car and this guy in a white Lingenfelter shirt walks by. He gets about 50 feet away from me and the car and makes an about face and returns. Out of his mouth comes this statement, "Please tell me that thing ain't stock, its way to fast to be stock what have you done to it." Which I replied "Nothing much just a cal change and an intake pipe." His mouth fell open and he began to shake his head as he turned a 180 and walked off still shaking his head. I really didn't know what to make of it but apparently the car got his attention.
hmmmm maybe a Lingenfelter Cobalt SS will be somewhere in the future

Thats the problem, the only light weight wheels that fit the brembo's are the ultraleggeras. Which I love, but enkei wheels are cheaper than the oz. I think the enkei are $250-300 a rim while the oz's are $350. Sooo I have ultraleggera's in my future unless something comes on the market. The ultra's are I think 18lbs.

Like I said. The Enkei's will be priced about the same as the RPF1 and should be out the end of Sept. They will weigh LESS than 16#. Call Enkei and tell the tech named King you want these for your Cobalt SS. They need some interest before they will produce them in our size. He said the SEVENTEEN inch should fit over our Brembos. I don't have the number off hand. It's in a post a few back.

Are you sure less than 16lbs? because even the rpf1 17"'s weight 15.6-16.2 depending on the offset/bolt pattern and the type 2's at 17" start at 16.2lbs. Idk about the 17"'s fitting the brembo, should, isnt a good answer. As even the SC stock 18's and 17's need spacers. So the offset and other size needs to be compared. A couple years back people tried to get the rpf1's for the SS but they didnt care...I dont have high hopes for this one either...

This is getting complicated...my damn dealership sucks.
They are feeding you a line and I wouldn't trust them for a second with your car.

The best answer I can give you is to call Enkei at 800-875-3100 and ask for "King" in customer support. Tell him you want light weight wheels for your Cobalts 5x110-17pattern. Ask him about the new wheel being released around the end of Sept. He'll answer all your questions and promised not to bite anybody that called. The applications for this wheel are still being decided and if we wanted them, or any others, for our cars we should show more interest in Enkei products. He isn't going to take your order. Just call him and show some interest is all he wants.

Personally? I'd tell the guy to go **** up a rope. GM is giving you the warranty. NOT the dealer. If he won't do it you should definintely call GM. GM is LOOKING for questionable dealers to close and he may be one of them. This is BULLSHIT. And tell him just that. Worst comes to worst you go to the next nearest dealer.

Whoops! Quoted the wrong post. Oh well!

can you guys take the wheel talk to another thread?

Not a bad review, would have appreciated more of a tc stock vs stage 1 from a dig roll and possibly a track time or dyno but hell after all this time, I will take any type of solid update. So basically, you mentioned it pulls harder than stock. Pretty sure we were all expecting that much. Anyhow, good on you for getting behind the wheel of a stage one.

sure.. I was actually thinking Buell should make a thread to get support for enkei's instead of asking people to call...because no one is going to call, only like 3 of us.

Be a little patient. Previous posts have mentioned slicks, DR's and wheels and seeing as how most of the guys looking for PERFORMANCE are here and have no real reason to look elsewhere. I thought I'd mention what I have learned. It's important to get this message out as soon as possible so Enkei can include US in their plans for new wheels before mid Sept. You obviously don't care about performance so I guess I'll be the only one with good looking 15# 5x110-17 wheels that clear the Brembos. I don't understand why your even wasting your money on anything performance if all you're going to do is brag about it. By the way, your handle "SUPERCHARGED SS" offends me and maybe should go to another site too. But if will make you happy I won't mention wheels any more. If anybodys interested PM me.

I should add I already started a thread a couple of weeks ago. Very little interest. This thread is mostly for people looking for Bling.
