exactly. Princess think it through, print it out/ take a ruler and a pencil. go to your max rev line, then go from first gear trace horizontally down to the second gear trace; draw a line. thats your rev drop when you shift. You can see how you might want to short shift or over rev before shifting depending on the application and the torque curve of the engine. Ideally you want to keep between peak power and peak torque . In real race cars you can change ratio's to satisfy that. The excel spreadsheet I use allows for histograms so we can plot engine power curves and make life easier figuring things out.

SAAB 5 speed F35 style trans has a longer 5th gear than a Cobalt FYI. So if you cared about revs on the highway and only auto x'd or short tracked you could do that ration change and drop a hundred or two revs in top for cruising.

Not sure I care to go through the effort to build that, GM dont sell fifth gears new, and the supply of used gears is finite...same for the SAAB F40 they dont make that trans anymore

we got 4.45 not a problem today but I get a half dozen requests a week so the sad fact is folks with money get them first. It looks like based on the data I am seeing, I will only put treated gears in trans anymore, so that means we will not build any without treating the gears and the case looks like. The risk of selectively heat/chill/shotpeen treating parts is that if you make only one part strong you make the untreated parts weak by comparison.

Pricing of our entire trans program is currently on hold as of yesterday, while we review what we are doing/going to do/what it costs to do it. I am not saying that the price will go up/ at all/or astronomically, but I am saying that if we are too expensive for folks they should really go and find another place to build their transmissions.

Also the issue of core transmissions is big. We have a lot of unuseable cores. A new bellhousing ( that gets broken when gear fragments get trapped in the bearing pocket) is 700 dollars plus shipping. USD for our canadian customers, which is a 14% increase due to exchange fluctuation.

Yea but wouldn't the dmf be ideal for the turbo rather than the fidanza?

So that being said you should and are going to start treating all internals in the transmission?
and you saying we got 4.45 not a problem today means you have them in stock? If so I will PM for pricing once you have figured out your transmission program. I also do not plan on getting a trans from anywhere else .

a flywheel that is over double the weight of a stock flywheel is not a good thing regardless of what induction system used imho. I dont care what people do, its just shockingly funny to see the folks with stock DMF bail on them asap ( that was the first thing we did on the cadillac ctsv race cars we built in 2004) and here there are a bunch of folks (lemmings maybe) all drinking the DMF koolaid...i guess it goes with a K&N ?

Matt Nanos ( Raver 6789) and ZZP both come to mind. ZZP then went auto.

Well I meant built by you, I remember you talking about the zzp 4.45 shortcomings from their trans connections. I've only heard of a couple zzp 4.45's breaking, most of the big turbo guys have the 6speed. I have your 4.45 along with the gmpp and I'm going to be around 600+whp/wtq soooo I guess I'll let you know haha

You have a boost controller I thought you said. You can always change boost on the fly, much like I do. Usually for street I have my A/B setting at 24psi/26psi. As long as you aren't daily driving 600whp/500lb feet and on it every day, you should be fine.

Plus...there is only so much power you can throw at these platforms on the street without slicks. 500whp is insane. 550 would be too much. 600? Overkill. You will never get the power down.

You can always select another boost setting if you track it - or you run into something you need to beat that is so worth going to jail over.

Yea, I was getting bored with the zfr at 25psi on e, assuming I was low 400's. I have no idea what 500+whp would feel like, but the way I see it is I got everything built for a reason. But of course, traction and what not in the street is always going to be an issue. But scythe was around 600whp in the street and I know there's others.

But yea, I have a mbc so I won't be dding it at that power level lol

Ahhh, can't wait!
