Since the turbo that requires more boost to make the same (or less) power typically operates with higher exhaust pressures and temps, it is likely to push the engine to detonation sooner. This is the the situation that increases stress on engine components significantly and causes damage as a result.

And that's why my S256 is only pushing an unimpressive around 400whp and dd driver mode is at an even less boost/hp, just the way I wanted. I can say I will be making the least hp on a built engine when the time comes.

Lets say you have:

turbo X that makes 400hp at somewhat high psi 25-27psi

or

turbo Y that makes 450hp at moderate psi 22-24psi

which is more dangerous for the engine?...High Boost or High hp?
That's a very loaded question with way too many variables. Hp numbers don't mean much. I would much rather know torque output throughout the entire rpm range. Torque=airflow

what did you finally dyno in at?

I will be seeing Sskev mid August i believe for my ZFR tune, however i am running a AIS Stage 2- 50/50 meth mix with a 7gph nozzle - boost controlled. Should be interesting to see what i run. My goal when i started modding was a 400whp car. 94 octane only. Current numbers 336 / 38* something or other.

^ Not that easy on pump gas. All of them we've seen have struggled to hit 400. Takes ~26psi + and a fair bit of timing to do it. I think we had at 24psi one 397, 25psi 403 (Chris') and 26psi 410. The 410 used 50/50 meth mix and a small nozzle, but timing wasn't that much higher. He's coming back with a big nozzle and 100% meth. I also think the dyno we tune on is not an ego inflator either. We are convinced there is a dyno the other side of town people use where they can go and get an extra 25 - 30whp. LOL.

Your numbers on that dyno actually sound pretty comparable to what I've seen on my normal goto local dyno raver. My car made 421whp on E35 at 25psi, and another zfr made 415whp on 50/50 mix meth with a 7gph nozzle at 26psi.

So the zfr is maxed out to 400whp/400wtq on 93 gas?
Anyone running 28-30psi?

I know Wert is pushing 28ish-psi so I'm sure he's probably 410-415whp or so on 93. I'm only pushing 25psi on my car with an e-blend because that's all the power I really feel the need for in this car. If I ever get a trans with better gearing I MAY push things a little harder, but that's a bridge I'll cross when I get there.

do you guys have 91 or 93? made 416whp on 93 at 6500. that tune was comfortable to say i could daily driver the crap out of it(and i did) and take it to the track and beat the crap out of it all year round if i had to. still had room to go but was going to need fuel sooner or later. made 442whp at 6200 with a 5557(before the most recent beta came out from hpt with all the fancy tables we now have) understaibly thats a much larger turbo although still not big lol

its totally do able with a proper setup BUT i would recommend better gas for sure for that kind of boost. 93 only gets you so far....... its rated to 500 crank or 50 lbs/min

What were the true gains over stock turbo if compared on that dyno and what was the boost pressure on the 6758?

I would strongly consider not pushing that turbo to 50bs/min. Yes it's rated to that much flow in the compressor map, but it's on the ragged edge and you would have to spin the engine to roughly 7800rpm or so at 28psi to reach that much flow anyways.

so it looks like the zfr has to be pushed to its max to make good power, and then its not safe on the stock trans and motor....

Don't use 93 octane, problem solved. Trans will be an issue no matter what.

Easier said than done. Not everybody has access to E85.

There is other fuel options then e85. Cam2, c16, 110, 106. Have two tunes, one mild for 93 and one when racing on a higher octane fuel.

Or instead of going through all that hassle just run 93 and be said and done.

I agree though, all you guys that can run E are super lucky. I would still be in stock turbo if u had E.

How far are you from Somerset? The Sunoco there has E. If you daily the car it wouldn't be practical though.
