Exclamation Blow Off Valves: Everything You Need To Know

Myself being a turbo n00b and with the SS/TC being my first forced induction car I figured I'd create a thread to help those, along with myself, who are uneducated and want to run charge piping with a blow off valve. If you have had experience with upgrading your charge piping and adding a blow off valve, please post your thoughts, experience, and knowledge about how to do so. There are so many options with upgrading to a blow off valve setup I want to do it the right way and not look back regretting my decision.

Such options include: MAF block, bypass valve block, atmospheric vent, recirc vent, etc.

Now I know I may get flamed for this because members say the bypass valve is more than sufficient, but I can't help myself with the satisfaction that comes from the sound of a blow off valve.

Thanks in advance.

Of course I'll be getting a tune. I just want to do everything right before getting the tune.

You're running the Greddy BOV now? How do you like it? Are you venting atmospherically or recirculating it through the intake piping?

So the MAF relocate isn't necessary? I am going to get the ZZP upper and lower charge piping. I'm currently running the K&N SRI with stock piping.

If you run a tial you will need to get the maf relocate. I have seen teh tials cause a p0101 because itll barely open up at idle and ect..... With the 22 spring!

Hell yeah dude im loving the tune... you wont be rerouting anything.. just take the line off the bypass valve and run it to the Tial.. and all you will need to do is buy a blockoff plate. Both ZZP and TTR have them bro its like $20

I've heard that the springs cause an issue and the BOV won't open. If anyone is running a TiAL can you chime in on this?

ya the MAF relocate is not needed, i am Trifecta tuned and its working good for me, i love the HKS though , if u look at the pic in my sig u can see my vac lines and how there routed, pretty much just T's off the stock BPV line and ran the T'd line to the BOV and bam its done, it uses the BPV at parking lot speeds and anything over that it goes to the HKS, more or less just tricking the car into thinking it is using the BPV still

You mean that you didn't use a block off plate for your bypass valve? Interesting...

I'm aiming for Saturday 16th because I'll be on my way down to Myrtle Beach, SC. I'm not sure if everything will be in (parts) by then though.
