Now Im not anything close to a full blown tuner but I know what you can and cant do and if a customer would ask for that I would explain to them why I am not able to do that, not blow their ******* motor.
Such a joke.
You need to know the whole story before you start mouthin off. Foster came to me for the tune and it was datalogged numerous times. We started off with a tune around 22 psi iirc and he asked to go more aggressive each and every time after we datalogged. The risks were all explained up front (as the tune gets more aggressive, there are significant risks involved) and what was asked for he received; the most aggressive tune that Vince had at the time. With that comes the cliched phrase of "you got to pay to play". I think an important footnote to this whole situation was that it was already the second motor and turbo that had been in this car since January of 09... the first one(s) had already met their demise before Trifecta ever touched it from a previous tune. Foster I'm sure will vouch again that he wanted THE ABSOLUTE most aggressive tune possible. So when you start saying that you would explain to a customer that it's not in the best interest of the longevity of the motor, that base had already been covered, as if it wasn't blatantly obvious to begin with. Show some respect for someone who is not only one of the most highly respected tuners for the LNF but also for someone who has made many things possible for us including tuning for bigger turbo kits.

P.S. The "another infinboost bites the dust comments" (not limited to this thread alone) are truly pointless and uncalled for. It has been proven time after time the blown motors are attributed nearly exclusively to either: 1. lack of datalogging (or any datalogging for that matter, especially for the customers who use the GT tuner - which does have a datalogging feature just some customers don't use it) or 2. want of a very aggressive tune. As stated earlier in the thread the car was extensively datalogged, which leaves the second reason to blame.

Thats one thing i will say there was no warning from the tuner or trifecta that it is possible just possible that your motor might self destruct. but on the same note us the customer want the baddest cars on the street. Its hard to say its really anyones fault at this point.
Foster I'm sorry that this motor is done after 6000 miles. As we went more aggressive with each retune the risks were understood. I appreciate you telling the truth about this and saying that you truly wanted the most aggressive tune available, which you asked Vince for. I can honestly say for all of the LNF's that came to me after you that none of them pulled like your car... that thing was a bat out of hell!

One of the most respected lnf tuners. ROFLMFAO. HAHAHA. Please.
Lil foster says he wasn't warned his motor would blow, Im inclined to believe him .
Like I said, if he were a responsible tuner he would not give the customer something that blew their motor, even if it meant losing that customer, so be it. I wouldn't want my name smeared on that piston, sorry.
I'll take an hpt tune from a real tuner.

Do people not realize that we have had more than a few people pop pistons on HP Tunes. There is probably only a small handfull of tuners out there that should be touching the LNF and Vince is definitely one of them. If you get a moderate tune from Vince and you datalog properly you will have happy LNF that will treat you well. If your pushing over 24-25PSi even with a good tune chances are you will have some issues.

If you know the very basics about modding/tuning these cars you would know that with an infiniboost tune you are taking risks and especially since the dealer (nelson) explained that.

Guess I can keep posting then since I have knowledge on it.
Local LNF blew up not even on an aggressive tune from him.
Douche sent the base tune, kid went out to datalog, boom.
Yeah great tuner.

I'd like a list of people who have blown up on hpt tunes from a reputable tuner. Please do provide. Even though you can't.
Go ahead nutswingers I got more.

He warns you of the consequences before he gives you more than 24 PSI, any tune will cause a motor to fail eventually on these cars over 25 PSI.

If you were actually a part of this whole situation (tuner, car owner, dealer) then maybe you'd be credible... but since you're sitting out in "everywhere" that's enough for me to see that you're just here to bust ***** which is no good for anyone. I've already stated, and it's been proven time and time again, the cars that have blown up on Trifecta tunes are one (if not both) of the scenarios I described. Far as your list of HPT guys who've blown up that you want... good luck having people "man up" and admit that they blew their motor/caused damage to their car though their "own tune". Many people are out there are too proud to admit anything has gone wrong... hell if they did how would they sell their tunes to other potential customers? I'm in no way, shape or form saying this is the case for all HPT guys because I'll be the first one out there to say there are plenty of knowledgeable guys who use HPT, but to label all infiniboost tunes into a sweeping generalization of "they're all crap/this guy is an 'ass'" is just plain ignorant. I guarantee there are a fraction of the cars out there that are tuned by HPT compared to Trifecta, yet when someone on here blows up on a Trifecta tune people go out of their way and make an ass of themselves by trying to rip apart Trifecta. Trifecta's track record speaks for itself; there are countless tunes out there from LNF's to LS3's and everything in between in which their owners will praise Trifecta for what Vince has been able to do with their cars and they are safe tunes. If you decide to go and push the envelope, then that's your own choice and it has its consequences. Responsibility is bestowed upon the car owner when they have been properly warned of what can happen and ask for the most aggressive tune possible, and I can guarantee you that was done. After that, the ball's in your court... and you need to accept the consequences of your actions.

That sucks man, but I dont understand how people can just **** away money like that. I mean, its a brand new car and you blew the motor in 6k....thats terrible. Obviously 28psi is WAYYY more than you should run on a stock motor and stock turbo...

You've tuned 4 cars for him? No, you hooked up a cable while he loaded a tune, you didn't tune ****.
I love how all these trifecta dealers now think that having a cable with a hookup to washington makes them a tuner. **** is halarious.
Like I said, he can tune and does well with most of it, but he also tunes absolute stupid setups and tells the customer it's ok, or he just doesn't care enough to explain to a customer why something would be a bad idea or this and that would be a better setup.

oh yea it was fun while it lasted. And yes i did want the most aggressive tune possible, for anyone that does go to you to get there LNF tuned they will be very happy with your service. We data logged numerous times untill i was happy with the outcome. Im not mad at all about the motor takin a dump. "Pay to play" is how i look at it.

that pay to play crap is bs. its more like pay to be stupid. Pay to play is true if u spend ur money wisely and actually build the car to be able to withstand abuse like that. Otherwise, in my opinion it is "Pay to be stupid"

Do things right and u wont have to pay to play.

The hate in this thread is ridiculous.... but if I absolutely have to, I could name 3 cobalts in my area that have broken on HP tunes...

When you push a car past it's limits there are chances it can break. With ANY tune. That's understood. To say that Vince shouldn't have given him the tune he asked for is ridiculous. I've seen several threads over the last 2 years or so where people have specifically gotten these high boost tunes, with the intention of using the experience as testing until it breaks, then going bigger with a build.

The reason you see so much hate about Trifecta is that when you're king of the mountain, people feel like they have to try to knock you off....

yes it is, but how people say it on here, its pay to be stupid or pay to break.

Every time someone breaks something they say "pay to play" but they arnt paying to play, they are paying because they do crazy crap like boost to 30psi or something. never seen anyone say pay to play for anything other then someone breaking stuff.

To the guys building their motors. ur paying to play, thats the right way to do it.

So you basically are saying Vince lies to and doesn't care about his customers ? OK.... thats BULLSHIT.

I can say without question that Vince is customer oriented ... I've talked to him on a friday afternoon about a software issue on my laptop and not once did I feel rushed to get off the phone . He treated me like he knew me and took the time to answer any question I had .....from tunes .... to looking at pictures of my spark plugs to read.

I'm no nutswinger ..... but when someone as busy as Vince takes the time to do all that stuff for someone he has never met .... and who's money he already has...... he earned a loyal customer .

Nelson's the same way .... that guy takes more time with people answering questions and helping others .... even after he's earned your money . Hell .... nelson has called periodically just to check and make sure your still happy with your setup .... you don't see that type of customer appreciation anywhere anymore.

You guys bashing the customer and tuner are just out of your minds.

Customer wants something - tuner says here are the consequences of doing so - customer says "Ok. I can deal with that. Do it." - Tuner delivers. Happy customer and so his motor crapped out. HE'S STILL SATISFIED! Is it YOUR money? Hell no so STFU. It's his money. He'll do whatever the hell he wants with it. Now he gets to do build up. Geez... If it doesn't affect you personally just relax.

I read in a mag a long time ago where manufacturers were doing top speed runs. McLaren F1, Ferraris, Corvettes, Vipers, etc. Some customized by the likes of Henessy, Lingenfelter, and so on.
Henessy broke two Vipers that day. His words to the media? "You can't see what's possible if you don't push the envelope and are willing to break stuff."
Just because it's not something YOU would do doesn't mean it's wrong.
You guys need to chill.

That's funny, if he cared about the customer he wouldn't keep handing out a tune that is popping motors. lmfao people are r-e-t-a-r-d-e-d.

Lulz I said reputable tuners, not some hackjobs who think they can tune like zach06cobalt wannabes. Please do list any blown motors from any reputable known tuner though I'd love to see.

Well... Just figured I'd drop by and say that I'm sorry about your blown motor. I just wish people would stop trying to blame someone or point the finger. What's done is done and obviously OP, you probably just want to move on and get stuff done.

That being said, good luck with the rebuild and I can't wait to hear how it comes out.
