My buddy jason tunes my car with hptuner and he would never take my car over 23 psi. He is a mechanic and he knows how far you can push a car. 28 psi is way to much for the k04 and stock motor. Im not bashing on vince but he should of never did that. My buddy was so worried about my car when the evap purge solenoid went up because he thought it was his tuning and cared about my car and spent 3 days of tuning and fixing the evap and now my drives great. If your professional you would never push the car that hard stock even if the owner says to do it because thats the way it is. I could'nt forgive myself for blowing someones car up on my tune and knowing that it would. If I was a tuner and someone asked me to do that I would tell them to build the motor and upgrade the turbo and then we can talk

I just want to state up front that I'm not bashing anybody here. Things break when you push limits with any tune.

SMG motoring -
Glen229's car threw a rod THROUGH THE BLOCK
Dayta's car has gone through at least 4 turbos
Another Balt who I don't know popped a sleeve

BYT-
Moepwr took a car with existing problems to Nick for a more aggressive tune than the original trifecta. Nick advised him to not tune on a car that was making those noises. John insisted, so Nick tuned it. It blew up. Ended up getting a new motor from the dealer.
So is Nick unprofessional and an "assclown"? John didn't get mad at Nick either, because he knew something could break...

Next you are going to tell me that SMG and BYT aren't "reputable"...

Lulz. And out of the mans list he has maybe 1 legit situation.
What does going through 4 turbos have to do with anything? Different turbos offer different adv and dis adv....that has nothing to do with a broken motor whatsoever so why the **** are you even trying to list it, digging that hard at the bottom of the barrel??
Convenient, "another balt who i dont know" give me a break.
Never heard of the byt incident, even if it is true, he isn't a repeat offender like some people, cough trif cough ecta.

Anywhoo I'm done with this thread, I've stated the obvious, that trifecta doesn't give a **** if he keeps handing out the same high boost tune that is blowing peoples motors, but hey if people wanna be ignorant go ahead and get a trifecta tune, keep 4k handy though.

I love how all these trifecta dealers now think that having a cable with a hookup to washington makes them a tuner. **** is halarious.
Like I said, he can tune and does well with most of it, but he also tunes absolute stupid setups and tells the customer it's ok, or he just doesn't care enough to explain to a customer why something would be a bad idea or this and that would be a better setup.
ok if u wana be technical ur right i flashed 4 cars

Obviously you have an axe to grind with Vince . Ignorant would be saying "have 4 grand handy if you get a trifecta tune" . For the amount of cars here that have a trifecta tune ..... only a small percentage have had issue's.

Your making it sound like every infiniboost car has popped a motor. I'm not a fan of high PSI tunes nor would I run one .... but shouldn't the customer take some responsibility if they want that tune... maybe use their heads and run it for a track tune and not a daily driven tune?

why dont you get a number on the amount of ppl that have the trifecta tune. I willing to bet only about 5% have blown b/c of it. 9 out 10 i bet the blown motors where all infiboost, which is waaaay to much boost have the car owner has to be aware of this. They think they have a damn racecar and drive red light to red light at 28 psi. Thats why the cars blow up.

this..

I PERSONALLY will not let any of my customers go over 24-25 psi and i tell them 25 psi is pushing it .. i also say remember boost doesnt = power.. out of all the flashes i've done with vince on ss/tcs no one has complained to me, i've had people come back multiple times with new mods and to re datalog to tweak things but never have i had someone pop their engine..

vince tells all his dealers that he WILL do a 28 psi tune but he doesnt like to as it's out of the efficiency range.. and he says to tell the customer it's a bad idea.. vinces personal opinion is to go with around 22-24 psi.. he advises against it strongly but as most company's he will give the customer what they want if they insist..

and as per usually you'll hear about every bad experience, but the good experiences only go recognized when they're extraordinary

I dunno myself and BYT were running our cars at 25+ psi (sometimes up to 30 psi) for a while with no issues.

oh yea it was fun while it lasted. And yes i did want the most aggressive tune possible, for anyone that does go to you to get there LNF tuned they will be very happy with your service. We data logged numerous times untill i was happy with the outcome. Im not mad at all about the motor takin a dump. "Pay to play" is how i look at it.

And that's the mentality that is necessary with this.

No it wasnt stated in the words "your motor will blow up"[/QUOTE]

Pay to play isn't bs for a simple reason, if you're willing to take risks, you need to accept the consequences that go along with those, many of which include monetary transactions. ItalianJoe has the right idea below.

I'm hoping that by now it's blatantly obvious to people how truly ignorant your statements have been and will view them accordingly. For whatever reason you have a huge chip on your shoulder for Trifecta and will do anything in your power to try and slight its name.

I agree with you Elecblue06, when people ask for my opinion as to how hard to go, I'll tell them 22-24psi but in this particular situation Foster wanted to go more aggressive. As I've already stated numerous times in this thread, the warnings were given and through Foster's own quote he knew what he was in for. I've had plenty of guys on here come to me to get Trifecta tune and I've had many come back for updates and well and to this day I haven't had a dissatisfied customer.

P.S. I find it hilarious that people say "Well he shouldn't have given him that tune..."(and variations of this). We're all (supposed to be) adults here and we can make informative decisions based on correctly distributed information. If I went to someone asking for a service and was denied despite being given all of the reasons why it could be harmful, then I'd be frustrated to say the least. I don't need someone to hold my hand to make a decision on my own, and for all of the people who seem to disagree with this then maybe you need to grow up a little and take responsibility for your actions. If the warnings weren't given, then by all means flame on, but everything was explained and understood. The funniest part is that the OP was satisfied with the tune and happy with the overall experience, yet some people in here are taking this beyond personally who have never even heard of FosterSS let alone know him personally. In closing, the OP was stating he needed to rebuild his motor to hold more power, nothing more, and this turned into a battle between ignorance and reason and it's obvious who came out on top.

Good luck Foster and let me know how everything goes!

Any tune with a 4th or 5th gear low rpm pull is going to pop the engine eventually. The stress created from lugging the engine with 24+psi is incredible. I'd be willing to bet that is the case with ALL of the blown engines so far...regardless of tune.

I'm not knocking the community as a whole but the majority of LNF owners who buy tunes don't even know how a car operates...let alone understand tuning.

Fully agree. Fourth and fifth are overdrive gears, and fifth is .70! That's quite tall for a little 4 banger. Use the right gear for the job. Regardless though, over 24 psi is a gamble on a stock LNF.

build

Thanks for all the encouragement on the build, i will post as many pics as i can on all my steps throughout the process . So everything is clear i am 8in no way mad at Vince, trifecta, or nelson for any matter at all. **** like this happens i got 2 other vehicles i drive. If anything blowing this motor might help the LNF community on future builds, not everyday can someone just blow it up and build it again, its way to expensive. Customers are going to do what they ant, if its high boost tunes there gonna do it. All we can do is support them and make sure its obvious on what those consequences can be. For my build i ordered 4 darton sleeves, and 4 wiesco pistons, idk about the rods yet or what turbo. When i know so will everyone else. If anyone has imput on what to do with the head or what size turbo feel free to chime in. Thanks

I'm not saying all his tunes are crap, I'm sure he caters SOME good tunes to customers, but knowingly giving people a tune that is going to blow a motor, that just goes to show you the lack of brains, no matter if the customer asks for it or not. Like I said, I'd rather have lost a customer rather than blowing their motor like a fucknut.

You are a HP tuners nutswinger.

look up R&L carriers, they will deliver 3,000lbs of car on a carrier platform (it's something you strap a car down to for loading in a shipping container where it gets locked to floor and ceiling) for $550. Most transport companies will do anywhere in the US deliveries for about that too. Just gotta look around. I've sent entire chassis/body components with R&L for work for about a grand round trip. Delivered shop to shop as well.

My tune is on for a year now with no problems at all. I do datalog a lot and am running a 26 psi tune with 70% meth. I run my tune all the time on the street and at the track all out. The only problem I had was the trans.
I can see your a real ****** Einstein know it all who probably knows very little. .

Hi there.

Here's the thing, I'm not reading all of this childishness. So, if you can't express yourself like an adult, you're going on vacation.

i had vince tune mine last week. the first tune the car no matter what wouldn't boost over 19 psi on a hard pull. he and i kept in communication all week and i sent numerous datalogs and he sent well over 6 tunes to me to re- flash my car as the late model 2010's had and extra boost block as he put it that he had to get around but by the end of this whole thing even after business hours he still sent me more tunes and as of now my car pulls hard as hell holding 22.5 psi which is exactly where i wanna be. ultimately vince went beyond what he needed to do to uphold his reputation and i have no complaints.

there a good experience for ya

First pardon my French. I completely agree with Kyle. Vince goes out of his way to help us out. Proud to be a Trifecta Tuner.
