Coilovers vs H&R springs
I have been thinking about lowering my car but wasn't sure if I should. Part of the reason is because I live in Colorado. We see a lot of snow in January, February and March and moderate to light snow from October to December. I've spoken with a bunch of people, some with Cobalt's others with MR2's, Eclipse GST's, Mazda Speed Protege, etc. They all say do it, they don't have too many problems.
I just want to add, I'm not heart set on H&R but they seem pretty good and they offer the right range I wanna go in terms of lowering which is 1"-1.5"
So basically I've decided to take the plunge and do it.
My questions are...

coming from a fellow h&r owner in the north east i see a fair share of snow come winter time and ive daily driven my car for almost 4 years now no problems.
with the questions you have tho you should check the sticky in the suspension section of this website, it should answer most if not all of your questions
goodluck! ( go h&r
)

x2 they are quite helpful and alot of people pass them by,
which way are you leaning now after reading it?
also you will not need camber kit, they do nothing for our cars, but rack spacers would help. you can pick them up from ottperformance dot com who is a supporting vendor on this site

the H&R race springs are a pretty rough ride, I had them for about a year, Lots of pogo'ing and bottoms out on the stock struts with a decent pittsburgh pothole. I have ssc and tc-struts, meh its ok. Good ride quality still bottoms out relatively easily dude to you losing the useable travel of the strut from lowering it. What you really want with a lowering spring is a strut with a shorter valve body/length, that way you get back some of that travel from the strut and less bottoming out. Just MHO

nope h&rs dont rub in the rear because the stock tire isnt wide enough to hit the lip on the inside of the fender, but i found out even with koni yellows wider tires WILL rub. but im on stock sized rubber again and its fine.
Im on H&R sports, have been for the past 4 years almost and i love them and reccomend them to everyone. just keep in mind aftermarket struts are a must for these springs as well as rack spacers. but i love the stance, love the handling, quality is great.
i wouldnt go with h&r race springs thats for damn sure, this is the limit on how low id go
