You realize you are gaining zero power on this....

Everyone is missing the part that connects to the actual turbo. Have you saw how small that tube is. All these bigger pipes up front do nothing, when it "necks" down by the turbo...

We are just stating, please dont get us wrong. If you want increased sound this will do it, but for power you need it all

well maybe when my kids retire, they'll be able to get a vendor supported CAI...

which, i'm pretty sure most will get a better cai when they become available(I know I will), this cost like $100 and is worth it(for the time being) for the sound... that is like two tanks of gas, lol

The turbo inlet is 2.375.... The 2.25" is wrong and will not fit... You will need to re order a correct one....

dont mean to start goin back and forth, but i had a 2.25-2.25"" coupler laying around and it fit the turbo inlet perfectly. maybe the coupler has been stretched, quite possible, but ill def. keep your measurement in mind if this is the case.

This is the exact reason I made a custom intake... I won't be making any purchases or decisions until GM announces their MODs. Until then, at least It sounds good while I continue to wait...

so I did the install today...........Love it, sounds much better...

a few quick note:

if you get the spectre kit, do not use one of the straight sections, you don't need it and get a MUCH nicer fit without it... btw, Isitfast? I owe you an apology, you are absolutely right, guys do yourself a favor and buy two 3" rubber couplings from a hardware store, as without them, when you are trying to get your filter aligned right, you MIGHT have your section of tubing with the MAF adapter come loose from the elbow, lol...

which means, you have to put all the stuff back stock, put the wheel BACK on, then drive to the hardware store, then drive back home, remove the wheel, and go at it again.......................so save yourself the trouble, lol

i'll try to make a video tomorrow

What I actually did was use 3 couplers - two for the maf adapter, and the black one that comes with the kit to attach to the section that goes below the hole into the fender. That way, if I need to pull it apart for service/etc, I can leave the section in the fenderwell and put the stock box back on in a matter of minutes. This also allows me to experiment with different section lengths, ram air, sensor positioning etc without needing to pull the fenderwell apart again.

Again, for anyone joining us - this mod is for SOUND only - it will not help (and can hurt in some cases) performance. I will be buying one of the aftermarket intakes whenever they come out.

I haven't really noticed any gains(didn't expect to) but it sounds bad ass and in 2nd, the turbo does seem to be spooling a little faster over stock, may just be my imagination but its definitely worth the $100 for the sound, lol

all the guys I race with thought it sounded bad ass as well, also ran a '99 GT/fake Saleen Cobra(GT with a few bolts ons and a Saleen body kit and wheels), ripped him pretty good, he had me until about halfway through 2nd, but I had closed on in by the end of it and as I shifted to third started pulling away we got out of them pretty much when I was near the top of 3rd... these Continentals won't hook for dick, so you pretty much find yourself running everyone down... even with the 2k launch its either the spin show or the bog show

the great thing is, I wanted to run him from a 30 roll(because of the tires sucking) and he told me we would but that he wanted to do a dead stop 1st, we have it marked off 1/8th mile and 1/4 and he wanted to go the 1/8th, I talked him into the 1/4...

we never did a race from a roll

and I don't even street race much anymore, this was my first time doing it in a LONG ass time, I pretty much just wanted to see how it would match up with a lightly modded New Edge GT/fake Saleen

I know there might be a how to somewhere, but how did you install your intake? I tried a little disassembley a couple of eve. ago and it seems you need to take the wheel off to get to the snorkel behind the bumper? any insight would be much appreciated. also have you thrown any codes yet? any loss in power yet?

yeah you have to take the wheel off, then remove the fender well, 7mm nuts, I think and some machine screws

the snorkel has a bolt on it and a plastic rivet, that you just pry off(its a 2-piece)...

its the route to go if you want the sweet sound like pimplay said. i made one and loved it for a couple weeks. then i noticed a vacuum leak and it wasn't putting out the same boost as the stock air box was. So i just went back to the air box and it feels so much more better. im just gonna wait for an actual manufacturer to come out with one.

Bracket

Hey guys i'm new here and just been able to post. But i have a black 08 cobalt ss too, and I made the custom intake just the way you guys did did. But I had a quick question for you, does it just lay there or did you rig/make a bracket up to suport it from just freely bouncing there? Also would you happen to know if your supposed to use the velocity adapters that come with the spectre kit? This would help me greatly.
Thanks Alot,
Brian

Okay and I seen that a person earlier took his off cause the boost went down. I noticed the same problem but shouldnt that happen with a custom intake. Because the car limits the power to 260, so with the stock airbox, it may need 18lbs of boost to reach this, but with the custom intake it may only take 16lbs of boost to reach this correct? It seems i'm boosting a little lower, 2-3lbs, but is that okay?
