E85

Have any of you tuners done any experimenting with E85? I'm not sure if the DI system can support all the extra volume it would need to push to take advantage of the higher octane equivalency, but if it can, you guys could see some serious gains from the stuff. Anyone tried it out? With that little turbo pushing flames up top, you could really benefit from the extra timing it would allow.

zzp says they have tried E85 on the lnf and it resulted in a loss of hp. Not sure of any other trials with it.

I doubt the direct injection system could push out enough fuel to handle the added timing.

~300 hp was where the injectors maxed out IIRC.

Ford is the way brethren. I refuse to let this thread die even though I know plenty others exists .

Whats retarded is DI is supposed to be a new and more advanced more fuel efficient way of delivering fuel to the cylinders. E85 costs a little less but from my understanding you burn a lot more .. Big deal , it costs less and gives you in some cases remarkable gains on engines with FI ..

All I can say is my buddy has 1000CC injectors on his SRT-4 running e85 and a 50 trim ..
OMFG he ALMOST gained 100 WHP switching that bitch to e85 ..

http://www.greencar.com/articles/eth...-less-cost.php

I guess I gotta hand it to Ford right now because without some huge BOSCH direct replacement DI's we aren't going to see E85 on the LNF which is VERY disappointing from a tuner's aspect and also sucks if you live in high altitude ....

I bet we could get another 40 Hp out the K04 with e85

I am collaborating with http://www.ethanolboost.com/ & BOSCH so keep your fingers crossed , I am not letting this dog die , I refuse , it is complete BS we can't run e85 This is where the LSJ guys have me jealous ...

Keep us posted, I wanted to switch to E85 last winter until I found out we were injector limited.

E85 is available down the road from my house.

We don't have the injectors or pump for e85 unfortunately...

I was thinking of doing it myself untill I realized we would be punishing the fuel system... so no bueno atleast for now!
