If you can read and follow instructions, they aren't impossible. Most important thing is to make sure you make good timing marks so you know EXACTLY where to put the chain back when you're putting the new ones in. Try to keep a little tension on the chain while you have the gears out so that it doesn't come off the crank as that will throw the timing off and you'll be resetting that again a day later which is a PITA b/c you have to pull the front cover off and all that. Make sure to get anerobic sealant for the HPFP section of the head and plenty of assembly lube. Follow loosening/tightening order and torque properly blah blah blah. You get the point.

If you're getting valve springs, you'll have to get help elsewhere as I have never done that.

I wanna do cams but my mechanic doesn't wanna **** with that timing **** on my car. I have to take it to another shop and they want like 1800 for install cams and valve springs. Not bad though, since they do walnut blast the head in that package. Keep us posted on the cams though.

i have done it both ways, one with kent moore J tool, the other the retime everything method.

it is not difficult.

the only kicker i have had was on one install was to go back BDC in order to rotate the cams to the correct orientation for TDC, then reset the crank to TDC. timing is a piece of cake with our timing marks and colored chain leaks

new crank pulley bolt and cam gear bolts are required

I have a "how to" for installing cams, but its for the LSJ....

I know you LNF guys don't have it as easy as on the LSJ.

But some of the info should still apply.

Well then.... good to know.

I knew about the actuators, just didn't know how involved they may or may not be.

OP, feel free to check out my "how to" for installing cams. It should help guide you along for most of the install.
