Intake Camshaft Sensor ISSUE!!!!!!
So lets start this off by saying the history of the issue. I first noticed that there was a oil leak coming from under the high pressure fuel pump so i checked it out and come to find out the intake camshaft sensor was leaking oil past the o-ring, i replaced it with a new sensor this was at 1500 miles. So i figured that fixed it, but next oil change came around at about 4000 miles and once again i was checking that area out it was leaking AGAIN! So naturally i replaced it. Well i am at 5800 miles now and have been checking on it lately and of course it is leaking again!!! Well of course i start thinking it is not the sensor o-ring it must be something wrong with the head. I got the chance to work on another 08 cobalt ss/tc at work today, i wanted to compare to see if he was also having the same issue, and his was leaking at the same spot, i replaced the sensor to slow down the leak. My warranty admin also came to me today and said GM wants both of the sensors back NOW!! I didn't put anything on the forumn letting you guys know about this issue cause of course i couldn't confirm it was happening on another cobalt until today. I would highly suggest checking to see if yours is leaking, if it is go and get it replaced GM needs to see a lot of these come back so they fix the issue. Also oil is starting to get into the connecter which could lead to a loose of signal from that sensor and your car will either die or not start this isn't something that can be let go, and it does leak quite a bit of oil. Hope this helps. Also here is a pic of the dissasembled Head number 53 is the intake camshaft sensor i have painted an arrow to where the sensor is located

Ok if you look at where the stock boost tubing mounting point is on the right hand side of the engine, well if you look under that you see the high pressure fuel pump it is covered with a black insulator, look under the pump and you will see the leak, you will need a light to see this. The sensor is black with a single 10mm bolt holding it in it is going to be on the underside of the head and under the intake camshaft.

Phew, thankfully no leak for me yet...I've only got 898 miles on the ODO tho. Good info either way
Edit: My bad, I realized the part circled was an end plate but I thought that's where you were describing the leak coming from, doh.

^FIRST LOOK HERE SO YOU KNOW THE AREA ITS IN, FIND THE PUMP IN THE CENTER OF THE PIC UNDER THE PANCAKE PIPE.

Yeah my dealer goes to a parts distributor that carries AC DELCO parts and they had like 5 in stock. i am sure all dealers have a distributor like this. Ohhhh yeah i will try to post the part number, my parts guys had a hell of a time finding the part number. At the very least they will clean it up and get the part on order, nothing your car needs to be down for, just needs to be cleaned and oil level monitored

Yup well there is no fix yet, as i said i have replaced mine 2 times and still not fixed, but i do know GM is looking into it, so get it replaced once to let them see there is an issue, then just keep it clean tell they come out with a new sensor
