I wish.
I think he ment front rotor warpage. My car had really bad shaking under braking with only 800 miles. Front rotors were replaced no issues with the new fronts. Rear rotors are an issue though. Too agressive pad compound against a rotor that is too soft. My rears were replaced at 6K miles.

RTV repair shows no sign of leaking after a few hundred miles on it. So far so good.

Seal Number?

Took mine in the other day. The invoice reads: "ORDERED NEW SENSOR" but further up it reads: "PART ON SPECIAL ORDER, 12589461," which is a seal. Listed as SEAL 0.293.

I don't mind them replacing only the seal, but this could be one of two things. Either the dealer is getting the factory o-ring and I will be RTVing the sensor myself later, or they ordered in a different size o-ring to try to fix the issue. Anyone have any info on this?

I believe the seal assembly is the piece that the Sensor fits into. The oring does not come separately from what I understand.

The part number is a seal for a plate.....not sure if its the cam cover seal or not. 0.293 is a GM "group number" its the marker for cylinder head parts. Its NOT the intake sensor.

FYI, engine oil generally isn't very conductive, neither is gasoline. The oil seepage shouldn't be a big problem unless you were losing more than a quart every so often. I agree that it should be fixed, but it sounds like GM has the same typical attitude of the Big 3 when it comes to fixing problems.

BTW, has anyone measured the size of the seal? What exactly is the problem? Is the standard o-ring swelling or not swelling enough? McMaster has a large selection of O-rings in different materials, like Silicone, PTFE, Military grade Viton, etc...

Oil's lack of conductivity is an issue. It interupts the electronic signal the Cam sensor sends to the ECM regarding the Cams position. That makes the car run like crap and sometimes it will even stop running. Mine started stuttering at idle for no apparent reason. Once I discovered the oil leak and found it leaked directly into the connector ( it was full of oil) for the sensor I clean it out really well with carb cleaner. Ever since my cars has not studdered at idle.

Those who are still leaking oil check your high pressure fuel pump

I just wanted to let everyone know that I fixed my oil leak. It was coming from the High pressure fuel pump. The oring that seals it apparently is also not thick enough to seal properly. I Used black RTV on it and let it dry and no more leaks finally.

That is good to hear. Gm does not know how to properly size o-rings apparently.

You are lucky I guess. My car has been to the Dealer at least 6 times in as many months. Two oil leaks front rotors warped rear rotors and pads messed up after 6k highway miles. sunroof leaked badly. passenger door handle was broken and never used. Now the check gas cap light keeps coming on when I hit the throttle. Could be the purge solenoid or pruge canister. I dont think there is anything wrong with the gas cap. and I took the purge canister off myself and checked for cracks or leaks or fuel contamination nothing I could see so it is probably a sensor or a leak in one of the lines.

Wow.... Im knocking on wood, but so far I am batting 100%. My TC is perfect, not even a single rattle. It's not like 09's are a better year either, as there are a few in the this thread peeing oil from the seal

Add mine to the list, it's spewing oil out like it's going out of style. It had a small leak to begin with but has gotten progressively worse (and I mean bad )...6000km.

EDIT:

They aren't entirely convinced the camshaft sensor is the source of the leak so tracer dye it is. Any thoughts on where else it could be leaking in that area, I thought I saw mention somewhere of around the fuel pump but could be mistaken. I'll keep checking the car on a daily basis and see if the dye leaks through...the rate the oil was coming I'd guess no more than a week.

Yeh, MOST GM techs are saying this is normal. I had it replaced once, but it continues to seep. The thing that people dont realize is that in lemon law states, if a car under warranty gets taken in X amount of times for the same problem and it shows true to be a problem, you can file suit and get a new car or get your cash back. And trust me dealers dont want to deal with that type of BS, so they will more than likely decline to fix it. I took mine in 3 times for this issue, and honestly only once did it get any work done to it. Im not too concerned considering the seep is not bad. After 5K miles from my last oil change I only lost maybe 1/4-1/2 quart of oil. I just keep it clean now.

Wait a second. My dealer is telling me there is no TSB on this, and this is normal. I was going to do the RTV once I replace my CP anyways, but if GM warranties this why not eh? Think you can post bulletin #?

a little off topic, but for our balt ss/tc the peak torque is at 2200 rpms I believe??

does that really mean that when u floor it off the line in first ur gonna hit 260 ft/lbs when the tach needle hits 2200 rpms??? soory if its a stupid question because i have had 2 turbo cars, sti and now ss/tc and both cars never really seemed to hit that sweet spot of torque til much after the published peak specs!!! it seems like most guys talk about the balt ss/tc hitting that sweet spot more like 3-3.5 k rpms, unless u launch it at 4-5k to bypass lag spot
