If anything, I hope this will lay to rest the Trifecta-bashing...
Who said anything about giving it away? I'd gladly pay for the software that he uses since it seems to have more lnf specific features than hpt.

cool.
i've been asking this from vince since he came out with the e85 tune. lol.

my suggestion would be to control this via both cruise and traction control.

traction turned completely off = 93

traction turned on = e85 or vice versa.

then the cruise still does high or low boost.

Right, I know you said it would work. I was wondering why there are options that are more than $200 if the red one works and is only $150?

Yeah they all work, it just depends on if you want to use it again on a different car.

I'd like to introduce Trifecta ECP, or Enhanced Charge Prediction.

As everybody knows, one of the biggest challenges in modding LNFs, is tuning them for various intakes and especially blow off valves (BOVs). These mods can result in sporadic setting of P0101 codes (or other fuel related codes) and disabling of boost (or limits to 3psi) largely due to the sensitivity of the airflow sensors on these vehicles.

We've come up with some completely new tweaks that work with the vehicle sensors to allow for more wider variety of operating conditions when they report the data to the ECM. These new tweaks solve several problems that have plagued the community for a long time, including different intakes throwing codes and requiring re-tunes based on how the air filter is rotated (think the K&N SRI), not being able to run an atmospheric blow-off valve without relocating the MAF, and even then having trouble with the car not running right and hitting limp mode all the time.

So far the test results are very promising - we went out and broke every single intake rule there is for the LNF without ANY DTCs, CELs or boost limp mode. You'll be able to run a BOV with no problems, be able to run any intake you want without needing a re-tune for it. You could literally run a piece of pipe and a sock monkey as your intake and it would run fine. (We don't recommend doing that)

And here's the best part- If you already have a Trifecta tune AND own a Trifecta cable, this update will be 100% FREE. (your local dealer may charge you at their own discretion. If you do not own a cable and need to rent one, you can do so at the normal minor re-tune cost)

Now as I said earlier, this is NOT ready for production yet. We're in the beta test stage. So we need you- people with persistent P0101 codes, people running atmospheric BOVs, and people having limp mode issues related to intakes or other charge issues- to test this out. If you own a Trifecta tune and a Trifecta cable and fit the criteria above, please reply to this thread and we'll contact you. You do not need to own a Trifecta cable if you live in south florida and are willing to drive to me to get this installed.
PM Sent Ready to test. I am E85

Using speed density to "fix" a MAF code like a P0101 is not a good idea IMHO because out of the 8 LNFs I have seen with P0101 codes every last one of them had a boost leak. I have Never seen a P0101 code on any LNF that did not have a boost leak.

Agreed on the boost leak part.
That's why I boost leak check all the time. Kinda like routine maintenance.

I can usually notice a boost leak on my vac gauge, too. If I'm not at -19 to -20 inches at idle, with no A/C on, it usually means I have a small leak.

So what, the red cable is attached to my car and can't be used on another one? The Tactrix cable is one that can be used on other cars?

No, sorry. I should have explained further. The red cable works on all 2005+ vehicles except the LSJ. The Tactrix is the same way but can also be used with EVOSCAN and other software on other cars. The black cable works on all cars including the LSJ and 1996+ cars that the other 2 don't work with.

I will be data logging tonight after work, but so far the car pulls way harder than it used to, boost is holding solid, no issues with my BOV, I'm in love.

Yeah I agree with that but boost leaks also typically set P0299 and it should be fairly obvious if you were boosting 22psi and now you only see 12psi, it should be obvious that you have a boost leak. At any rate we didn't design ECP to "band-aid" a real problem, it's designed to allow you to run a more wider selection of intakes and BOVs without issues. I'd be interested in some feedback from you as well if you're interested in helping us out. We may be able to offer this to SELECT tuners as a layer file.

Sorry for my ignorance. I have the kn sri and forge bpv and hahn charge pipes with this tune could I just add a blow off valve to my set up without any issue?

Hell yeah. A smart vendor on here should start stocking up on CPs with BOV flanges and BOVs and block off plates or maybe even getting some group buy together for when this is released. Tons of people will want to run a BOV for the noise. IMO the K&N SRI sounds just as good as a BOV.

like this.

it has to do with the way the intake changes the turbulence of air passing through to the maf sensor.
because there is no screen or straightener lots of things can skew the readings on the maf.

a solution to this could be to do a maf relocate, use treadstone's cone air straightener in the intake, tune for the intake itself and adjust the trims to that intake or the easiest thing is to bypass the maf. that way you don't need a maf relocate if you use an aftermarket bov.

This is what I've been thinking of having.. And will this ECP now cure false KR that I've been getting for like ever?
I knew Vince was busy with something since datalogs have been taking up to 1 month to get back a revision, or at the very least, an ok response.
Either way, great news for both Trifecta and alot of Cobalt owners. I just hope it'll fix my problem as well. I seem to get KR in the midrange and even at just part throttle.. doesn't make any sense and I know this ****'ll slow me down in a 1/4 mile run. I did have to undo my charge pipes and re-install them since they were rubbing after both GM and a Ford dealer had done work to my car. GM put my ZZP head on, and Ford put in my 2nd radiator since they cracked it while appraising the car Don't like letting other people work on my car since they never do the job right the first time.. but at least the head was done right.. just the charge pipe geometry wasn't perfect. Still getting a couple degrees of KR in the midrange and at part throttle even after fixing that issue. It went away for a short time, and has emerged yet again. Kinda not sure what to try or do next.. I like my car running in top form and not half-assed like it's been. Just hope this ECP breakthrough will also resolve this issue for me and then I'll be happy as a pig in **** lol.

Yeah, that would be great if this ECP capability would fix that false KR people have been getting.

I believe this also means that if a stock LNF were to be tuned by this, aftermarket mods added later may increase the horsepower, at least more substantially than the original setup lol.
in theory - this tune may lead the way as "all-in-one" tune.. just adding bolt-on mods later [larger diameter charge pipes, larger FMIC, etc..]
1. "self-tune" itself..
2. could resolve many tuning issues on it's own.. even though other mods [larger tc, fuel mods, etc..] still need to get "tuned-in" for the other bigger mods..

i see only one problem with select-a-gas - everytime before you start up the engine, you need to hit button to the select the tune you need to work with the gas in tank so it can run properly.. and not everybody will remember to do that every day.. unless vince can set it up as a "auto select" feature with a in-tank gas sampler like with "flex-fuel" vehicles?

So many things cause false knock on LNFs. Often times the knock sensors are not rotated correctly from the factory which causes them to pick up "noise" which shows up as knock on the logs. Also sometimes things like metal intakes or metal charge pipes can hit other things as the engine moves which can cause false KR as well. Anything that makes an abnormal "clang" sound can be picked up as knock.
