It will sound like a subie if theres a rocker missing, the lash is just there to oil everything i assume and you will notice a power drop significantly if theres a rocker missing and it clearly sound like a subaru...you would know something isnt right for sure.

, mine had less power than stock with 3 missing rockers. If the lash is broken im not sure if the rocker will stay in place, correct me if im wrong im no expert...

You will need to remove the braided line that is on the turbo to remove the valve cover (can be a pain lol) if the dealer do it for you then its alright , and to swap the lash, loosen all the bolts that keep the camshafts in place, dont remove them or loosen them all the way , just loosen enought so you can remove the rockers.

If you have a broken lash, make sure you find all the remaining parts, when i broke one the remaining parts was about an inch from the timing chain.

Heres the lash in this pic when i did mine:

i have a lot of spare ones, brand new, i bought all 16 just in case but only swapped 3 of them to make sure. If you need any just PM me i can sell them cheap.

Ah, I was just going by their stage 2 head. Pretty sure it uses oem lash adjusters. I guess those would prob only be practical in a race only application since they're $2000.

It broke at 37000km, it was my error though, i got a phone call in same time i was at end of 3rd gear, testing the downpipe for the first time, and wanted to continue the pull in 4th while answering, but got it into 2nd gear ...

It had 1 broken lash adjusters, and 3 rocker were laying on the head. My car really had less power and was sounding like a subaru, i doubt it could make 200whp lol

I just changed 3 lash and put the rocker back in, no problem since, oh i changed one rocker too it had some scratches.

The lash adjuster probably broke after the rocker unless the tip of it was allready worn bad

Ok well my dealer listened to it and Said the noise is a cover over the fuel pump. Which I think may be a noise but not this one. But I will keep everyone informed

I think you have the same issue as me. I am replacing my injector seals and injector. I am even with a trifecta tuned car with minor bolt ons and running at 19psi while I am HP Tuned and am running 24 psi with full bolt ons and more timing. I also have the subie sound and ticking/stun gun sound under boost. Its the same exact symptoms princessturbo experienced when he blew his injector seal.

If you don't have a rocker sitting off the camshaft under your valve cover I am almost willing to bet thats your issue.

Probably, but I doubt they'll pull your fuel rail and injectors if you're not throwing a code since they didn't even pull your valve cover off. I am installing them myself. Its costing me about $135 in parts and tools including shipping. You need seals, intake gasket, a high pressure fuel pipe, seal installer, and I'm going ahead and replacing whichever injector has no seal.

Oh damn ok. Well I am trying hard to get GM to replace or fix the car. But they told me today the tech thinks the rattling noise or ticking is a feul pump cover rattling. BS, so I'm going in later an listening to it with him

Well, it'll only make the sound under boost. You wont hear it and they won't unless you have your tune on and are putting a load on the car.

Well they know its tuned I think, the reason I took it in was at idle I heard a small ticking and rattle in left rear of engine, sounded like it was under the valve cover, thinking maybe a broken lash adjuster laying around and causing noise at idle.

I was told this at one point also.. pull the bloody valve cover dude. I've had broken lash adjusters and rockers wedged in my head twice. It's all cured now with a ZZP stage 1 head, and the lash adjusters aren't the problem, it's the weak factory springs being pushed out at high rpms with increased boost causing them to pop the rockers. ZZP springs will cure it, or if it's too costly as was my case, just get the ZZP head kit for the same price as Gm's factory crap.
If it sounds like a Subie, you definately have either a broken lash adjuster, or a rocker arm sittin around in ur valve cover somewhere. If u throw another one, it will become more noticeable, have way less power, and then finally, start to throw misfire codes. I purposely threw the 2nd one in order to get GM to look at the bloody car since nobody would touch it by going from what I had said. They will only pop the cover if you have a CEL, which unfortunately, isn't going to happen since this is a mechanical issue that won't throw a CEL until it becomes severe. And, by that time, you will most likely need more work done than what they're willing to do under warranty, which was also my case. It broke again a month later without ever going over 6000 rpm.
I warn you now, don't trust GM techs, this site has more information than 99% of those guys have on our cars. I got lucky and found a good mechanic at one of my local GM dealers who actually listened to my concerns, and did what I asked, which was to pull the cover and LOOK. Everything's fixed now, and I'm happy with that particular GM dealership, whereas the rest in my city can jump on a washing machine with their bare ass and rotate on the spin cycle. He fixed my car with the parts I supplied and has done a wonderful job. Couldn't be happier, but he didn't put on my charge pipes tight enough and blew them off last night lol. I fixed that up myself :P

One other thing, you won't be able to hear any difference in the engine bay from having one thrown off. It's not actually contacting with the cam, so it sounds normal.

Read up on that, man. It might change your opinion. Princessturbo replaced his lash adjusters and rockers and still had that sound. Just saying that could be his problem. Pretty sure its mine, will be verified this weekend. Not just lash adjusters can cause the sound apparently. I thought the same thing at first.
