Is Mitsu short forMitsubishi? If so, what happened to borgwarner. It just makes sense for an american company to do business with an american company.

I kinda lost intrest on this car when I saw that there was no awd option. Looks great but I'm pretty sure my ss/tc will be the last fwd performance car I will own.

I like the idea of a high performance FWD car. Its fun! So is RWD so is AWD its just a taste thing. FWD cars are good in 40 or 60 rolls. Not so much in launch, thats AWD. If you want the best all around car RWD will always be king. Less launch than an AWD but less drive train loss and less weight. Its better for auto X, drag, everything. Just will suck in snow or ice, but I live in Fla so who cares.

That being said. It looks like the LHU is a wimpy version of the LNF. True?

Pretty much. The LHU runs less boost, the downpipe is horrific, and the intake is more restrictive as well. Oh yeah, and the IC is smaller, and sandwiched like the Cruze IC.

I've already posted up pics of the regal turbo (in a thread on this site), I have one, its made by mitsubishi, uses a metal BPV. Other then that the turbo looks exactly the same as a BW from the outside.

Pictures of the Regal LNF Mitsubishi in my gallery, including the BPV taken off. It will be the turbo pictures with the red dust caps on it, the other turbo is the new K04-GT2871 hybrid.

I talked with Brian at BNR why I was done there about the Mitsubishi version, he said it was smaller then the BW K04 model. So Regal guys are probably going to be using the BW version or BNR upgrades as bolt on's.

How can there be a K-04/GT2871 hybrid? I thought any turbo with a K or an S prefix was a Borgwarner and any turbo with a GT prefix as a Garrett. Arnt they competitors? So, how can there be a K-04/GT2871 hybrid?

The Regal we had in the shop the other day has a Borg Warner turbo on it. As far as I know, nobody has ever actually witnessed a Regal with a Mitsu turbo on it. Let's not start spreading false information based on speculation.

So the turbo Regal you had in the shop was stamped BW on the turbo? Interesting and yeah can't argue with seeing actual proof

Yes the Mitsu turbos are speculation, but when you have people seeing pallets of them (in the GM plant) with reports they are slated for the regal platform of course thats what your going to believe.

Maybe GM is using up K04 stock for the intial release of the Regal or found flaws with the Mitsu units, any how interesting find. I have 2 reputable sources telling me they are going into the Regal, one works for GM in Michigan and the other (Turbo shop owner) has had the same turbo I have and taken it apart to see exactly what it was. Which sadly was a smaller version of the BW internally, outside they look exactly the same minus the Mitsu stamp on the flange and metal BPV.

Vendor or not, was the giant bold letters necessary?

It appeared identical to the turbo on my Cobalt. They also have the same part number when you look up the Regal turbo vs. the Cobalt turbo.

Maybe they are planning to switch over when stock runs out as you said, or maybe they will switch to the Mitsu turbo when the Regal starts being built in Canada. This Regal was built in December in Germany. Sorry for the bold. I just did not want people to skip over it. It may sound insignificant, but statements in threads like this can lead to mis-information that spreads as fact and a lot of confusion can result.

Ohhhhhhh very nice. Well I'd rather see it with the BW than the mitsu. Lets hope that was just testing and/or rumor.

I know GMPP Bill said he hated the mitsu turbo in testing and so maybe he convinced them to keep the bw

well I think its way better, performance and to get the power band going, to have a twin scroll on such a small motor. From the rumor the mitsu was a single scroll. Its like the ms3 turbo vs the lnf. My ms3 was great, but the lnf did spool 500 or more/so rpm faster. When you have tiny turbos like this and the motor, the twin scroll is damn nice.

Agree about the twin scroll vs. single but
the mitsu has a twin scroll runner for the turbo housing just like the K04, just take a look in my gallery. I have pictures in there of the Mitsu K04 variant.
