It was on a 460whp/460 ft/lbs tune, but not making that much on the launch.

Yes, 26x10" slicks.

ZZP tranny??? do tell
Yeah, I'm not that dissapointed. This trans has about 350 dyno pulls on it and 50+ track passes with over half of them on slicks.

This was a standard diff. I don't know if the Quaiffe LSD is stronger, but I would suspect that it would be.

You have the LSD in your trans?
Centerline Storm 15" rims (LSJ brakes), and Mickey Thompson 3053C 26x10 slicks.

that's why we went auto...... well hopefully once I finish up the car tomorrow night............ finally
His took out 3rd gear, right? That's what Ryan did to his last year. We try not to NLS 2-3 anymore, unless there is a 4.05 or higher final drive in the trans.

It didn't sound nearly as bad as it turned out to be. We didn't think it was too strange that there was half of a spider gear on the ground, but the plastic inspection cover on the ground made us wonder. Turns out that's where it flew out after grinding around in the bellhousing for a second.

ZZP stage 5. We just stuck this in here a couple weeks ago. I'm thinking we should have stayed with the stage 4. It was holding fine anyway and might cushion a little better on the launch. This clutch has pretty much no slip ever.

ZZP is using Southbend DXD Clutches? Those are very good clutches. I'm using one in my 300ZX, Stage 5 FE good for 690ft/lbs

If stage 4 clutch was just fine, why did you guys change it out, I would think that a little bit of slip might help in a situation such as this?

Ryan can't use it any more with his 6 speed swap, so we put it in my car. It seemed like a good idea, but might just be too much clutch for this trans to hold.

Ryan will get some information on trans upgrades up soon. We didn't want to post too much up until it's all been tested significantly. Ryan had a few of our mods in his trans last fall, then we added some more for this year. That is the trans that is going on my car now.

Holy Santa Clause **** that's an insane amount of damage. Interested in the "ZZP trans" though...sounds like good stuff is in lines for that balt!

Good work regardless of the damage though ZZP, you guys are MILES ahead of the competition!

anytime you are pushing out 2 times the torque that the car was stock then you are asking for trouble, especially on a stock transmission. If it breaks just make it stronger. I realize it costs money but you have to pay to play

whats worse a 40 roll or a dyno run for the stock tranny? im asking cause he said he has been through over 350 dyno pulls and numerous track runs. that might be the problem right there. i have never been dynoed and never been to the track. but always doing 40 rolls. i just curious if its still gonna be safe or not.

well now thats a fully loaded question. When you say 40 roll, what mph do you stop at? do you NLS every gear? and about the dyno, that depends on what kind. A mustang dyno (which i think they have) actually accounts for real driving apects, such as drag. Honestly if you were comparing lets say a 3rd gear pull on a mustang dyno and a 40mph roll to about 120mph then i would say they are about the same

Ah, okay. That's what the problem was. The Quaife is most definitely stronger. I blew the Diff out of my 2nd trans about 2 years ago. Didn't cause that much damage though.

Sooooo... can I get the transmission sitting in my garage converted to a ZZP trans?

I'm interested to see what you guys are cooking up.

You will only see a failure like that when you have a LOT of traction (slicks) a strong clutch and a **** ton of torque. Just tore it apart! On a street car, the tires are going to spin like mad so it will be less stress on the diff. and that will be the "give" instead of your trans lol.

This was caused by sitting at the line at 6000RPM with boost and coming off the line WOT with sticky slicks and a well prepped track.
