LNF Trans Failure
You will only see a failure like that when you have a LOT of traction (slicks) a strong clutch and a **** ton of torque. Just tore it apart! On a street car, the tires are going to spin like mad so it will be less stress on the diff. and that will be the "give" instead of your trans lol.
This transmission deserves a round of applause for the abuse it put up with... Im totally impressed.
Id really like to swap trans with SS/SC or HHR SS for the more aggressive final drive. Im all ears on the ZZP trans upgrades

If all goes well this week (I know it's been 6 months, but hell I just haven't had much time) I should have some test runs this weekend with the auto in. I was such a bitch tracking down what parts to use etc etc and wiring everything up without schematics wasn't that much fun lol. but car runs and goes into gear, just need to button up some small things tomorrow night and hopefully this thing goes and shifts on it's own, then the fun begins
By saying Quaife, I was referring to the LSD. This trans had the open diff. OR did Quaife manufacture the open diff for the F35 as well?
Not likely. I don't see this car getting a cage, and it already runs quicker than it is legal to without one. If the 6 speed works out well on Ryan's car, this car could get the same eventually. In the mean time, it is the perfect test car for our 5 speed upgrades.
The engine looks completely fine.
Did you go with a 4t65 or something smaller? I wish GM offered these cars with the 4t65 and 4.00 diff. With the relatively low torque they make compared to turbo 3800s, and how light these cars are, I think they would hold up pretty well.
yeah his was on a 3rd gear roll in on the street at 45mph, no shift, just kaboom at 5k rpm.

Sorry Matt my bad. I thought your car had an LSD. No Quaiffe didn't make the open diff, its in house made at Getrag. Its pretty weaksauce.(that splains alot) The LSD's on the turbo cars is a Quaiffe.
We are working on a swap kit for the Saab 6 speed trans into Cobalts. So far it's coming along nicely. We will have a thread about this swap when its up and running.

As for the 6 speed swap, we were looking into that too, but the weight, and the fact that's it's only rated for a bit more tq the the f35, made it not that attractive. All in all the auto swap might be able to be done cheaper too now that we know what to do.... well so far lol. I have a feeling if all goes well we should see a high 10 sec street car by the end of the summer. might end up getting the trans beefed up even more and using a manual valve body and a stand alone trans computer if we can't get it to shift on it's own this week. Was running close to 30psi on the car before the trans went on pump gas w/meth injection on the gt3076r. Motor so far held up great, trans not so much as you already know
it's a custom one off trans from a test car. it's basically a 4t45 case with 4t65 internals, that's where the bitch and getting axles and whatnot came into a problem. you'd be surprised at what cars the 2 axles came out of that ended up being the right length and size lol.

install wise it was pretty straight forward, but I don't know where the mounts came from for it, they were in the package I was sent. wiring was terrible though as the harness that came with the trans was part lsj and part lnf and didn't follow any of the factory wiring of course. probably just standard cobalt 2.4 ss auto mounts though from what I could tell. aside from a few exhaust modifications trans fit fine with the gt3076r. now comes the fun part of making it drive though.

I have the camera in my jeep today..... I'm hoping the damn thing drives tonight.... and I"ll have some videos. only have about 2 hours to work on it, but that should be enough............ hopefully
