need a clutch?
The stock clutch is a solid piece. Sorry you had an issue with yours, but burning out or glazing due to impropper use isn't the clutches fault.. that would fall under user error
How did you wreck your clutch in 17k miles? There are at least a few tuned people still on stock clutches.
I am putting down a ton of torque and the clutch looks almost perfect still after a few thousand miles of driving it and beating on it a little. I'll take a picture and post it in the morning.
As some of the other guys said... alot relates to how you drive it. I know a guy in Tucson (Drewbroo) who makes more power than me and was running around on a stock clutch.. If you hammer it at too low of an RPM it will slip... the more you do it the worse it gets. I was gentle on mine for the most part and it didn't slip under WOT as long as it was in the correct gear. Especially with an untuned car... I would say that it was either a defective clutch or maybe you were lugging it and then going WOT to often. It's easy to do but it should be done as little as possible.

Around 4k total miles, added a Trifecta tune =slippage for me. And i drive like a sissy compared to a lot of you guys. Sometimes i feel like they threw in an aveo's clutch just for snitz and giggles.
Wow...I bet you're running over 370Ft Lbs. What boost are you running? Have you ever drag raced it? Stock clutch should hold up to 350 Ft Lbs. I have tune and around 360 Ft lbs..ZERO slip. The stock clutch is pretty damn robust.
I've also had good luck with the stock clutch + being tuned. But I've always tried to rev match, pop it into neutral when stopped, etc, just as a general way to prolong clutch life and she's still holding strong. I can make it slip if I go full boost at too low an RPM (a big no no) like some others have said, but if I drive it right there's no slipping.
I also dynoed 378 ft lbs, but who knows how accurate that really is.

Anyway I got my new clutch put in and the mechanic said the stocker looked unused. Even the flywheel was showroom new. Just confirmed what I already suspected, that It wasn't my driving. Probably just a underachieving Gm part.
i was on a trifecta 24psi tune, no slip. now im on a hp 20psi tune and still no slip. the hp tune feels just as fast as the 24psi tune.
anyway when i get a new clutch eventually its going to be a zzp stage 4.
