NLS gone bad?
So earlier today I NLS my car, and it gave a few pops and then the engine cut out and the oil light came on... No CEL came up nor did any codes and when I plugged in my HPT nothing showed up either. I am tuned, but on a tune that is anything but aggressive.
Started the car up after this happen without any hesitation, and it ran just fine after this incident.
Anyone had a similar problem or have any idea what happen?

I wonder how many threads start with "So, I NLS'd today and **** went boom."
Seriously, though, if you have no codes and you're running fine, I wouldn't worry too much. When you missed the NLS window and over-revved and hit the limiter, it just died. If your tune hasn't adjusted your rev limiter up to 7K, then you're probably fine.

These ECU's lose their **** from time to time and do weird things... i've had mine do a machine gun backfire pop thru the exhaust on a 2-3 shift before but the logs show everything is just fine... if anything it showed a rich condition during the shift... i bet if you shift 100rpm sooner tho you'll never have a problem.
FWIW limiter is stock 6300 and i've seen over 6800 on a NLS per hptuners

Personally I haven't done any of the tuning myself. I use HPT to data log (haven't had the chance to try to data log this), but I have been getting tutored by a friend who does tune my car.
The car has done it both hot and cold. It's happened 3 times so far. I've had the car 3 years, and never had this problem until this crucial heat wave we've been having in VA. Changed the spark plugs after the first time it did it and it did it two more times.
I'm not to worried about is since the car is still running and seems to not be missing anything. Just kinda pisses me off that this is happening all of a sudden. haha

At what rpm does the nls window start ? I know 6300 is redline. So can you nls at 6000rpm? Or a bit later like 6100+ ?

I NLS around 5800-5900. I've seen people successfully NLS at around 5500 by mistake. It's all about being at WOT if I'm not mistaken. Once the car registers you're at WOT then it's fair game I believe.
I have a feeling I'm wrong with that statement, because there is always unknown factors to things like this, and NLS is not something I'm all that familiar with when it comes to technical info. So if someone has a better idea please let us know! haha
