No intercooler upgrade needed when using E85
Ok, I'm thinking that there's no reason to swap out the stock intercooler, if your'e going to make the switch, & run E85.
Because E85 removes latent heat, & resistance to pre-ignition is much higher than gasoline, so its much safer, & besides, the stock intercooler can't be that bad.
Maybe I'm wrong, but has anyone done any, before/after testing running E85, with a stock, and then an aftermarket intercooler, to see if it makes any difference.
One less thing to worry about, when switching to E85, if it's really not needed.

This is my biggest fear now that I'm back on the modding trail. I just don't want to go through taking my front bumper off. Did a heat exchanger on a buddies SS...Getting it off wasn't bad...but damn those little clips make it a pain to get back on

I'm going to time my ZZP IC install. I can get me bumper off in about 15 minutes and back on in about 20. I've had plenty of practice lately.
It's easiest to do it without taking out the headlights.

the people running no intercooler are either rear mount or running a really low boost setting. E85 does help cool the charge and produces lower EGTs, but its not enough for the stock turbo on these cars being pushed to the limit. I notice with my afterarket intercooler that i get about 7degrees rise out of a third gear pull on my iats compared to 30 degree rise on a third gear pull on the stock intercooler. Thats at 23-24 psi. You will still see the same iats on e85 of coarse, But with a aftermarket intercooler your charge temp will be that much cooler. The cooler the air the safer it is for your motor... to a extent.
