over revved the engine :(
Takes a good man to admit what he did, not flame GM for a crummy motor. Good luck with the repair. I would change valve springs at the same time if its ok to save the top end...
I know you said you are in the Army, I'm in the navy and we have the Navy/Marine Corps relief society. Do you guys have anything like that? They helped me when my trans went out in my accord, they give interest free loans and take small payments until it's paid off. Might be something to look into as far as getting a new head or even a built one from ZZP. Good luck with it though.
edit: here is the link, it looks like they have contact info for the army as well

So after hearing the video I think I might have to stick with my original post.
It sounds like a lash adjuster or two(or 3 or 4) are done and a spring on the intake valve side is broken/gone and it's causing an intake valve to slip into the combustion chamber and get smacked back up by the piston. It'll slowly slide down and then the piston will hit it back up into the seat and then repeat - sometimes getting stuck because it's bent which is why it comes and goes.
I hate to type that but that's my theory by puttin gall the evidence together. Get to work and pull the valve cover. If you really think about it, $450 shipped for a complete head is not bad so I'd be looking to get some funds together any way you can - sell something or a small loan perhaps, like what klloyd posted.
I'm sorry, bro
I am pulling for you because I looked up to your turbo swap.

You can do it with the motor still in the car.
Drain oil and coolant
Remove everything attached to the head
Pull head
Drop oil pan
Rotate assembly until rod bolts for piston you are replacing are accessible
Unbolt rod end cap
Remove rod bearings
Place ruber hose/grommet or tape over edges of rod
Push rod and piston up and out through the top
Replace piston
Reassemble with new bearings and gaskets.
That's the most basic way I can explain it and there are many more details involved - just a rough outline of what you can do to replace a piston.
Time consuming and tedious. Just be careful you don't scratch the cylinder walls when removing the pistons and rods.
I personally wouldn't just change 1 but that's up to you and your budget. I would at least change all the bearing since you are going to need to on the one you take apart.
In my honest opinion, it's just time consuming. Mongorat has all the parts you'll need at phenomenal prices (if you're looking to do it as cheaplyh as possible).

I'll buy the turbo kit
Exactly.
Dude, sorry to hear it man. Def sounds like its tapping a valve
I know it sounds like a good idea to just fix only whats broken and move on but your engine will never be the same, trust me. Your best option is to get a loan like stated and fix it right. Your going to need to hone the two cylinders that are misfiring just to be safe since the head will be off anyways. All four if you decide to replace all pistons. Since the head will be off, best replace it with a complete one from mongorat as stated or rebuild yours altogether. Sounds like you have reliable transportation for now so if the loan isnt an option for you then Id save money, driving the srt4, until you can fix the balt right.
Just some options man. Again, sorry to hear it bro.

exactly if you have another car there is no point in stressing and trying to rush the repairs on the SS take your time, and i am STRONGLY against those who just replace 1 piston, if you have to do it replace them all. I had an dealership **** up where they mistimed my motor and piston 4 head the head they took the car apart and there was no damage to it, a few months later that piston cracked.
but take the valve cover off check the damage and then move from there you are just gonna stress your self out tryna figure out what it could be
do a compression and leakdown test as well, unless you are gonna just take the head completely off
if this was the mazdaspeedforum you would have already gotten like 2k, they donate to each other like crazy on that forum

So 971 views... taking into account that people looked in here more than once, lets cut that down to 1/3, so roughly 290 peeps popped in here to look at what Dart had to say about an over revved motor...
If all 290 people paypal'd him $5 as a gift, he'd have $1450 to fix this.
Hell, if just 100 people did that, he'd have enough for the head from Mongorat.

Something just tells me to help Dart in any way I can.
