Part throttle is really bad?

So I was reading the Do's and Don'ts sticky and came across a Do NOT do partial throttle, always do 100%.. I was just thinking, that's kinda nuts. If I need to get by someone should i do a WOT pass on him? lol

Any more insite on this? I don't want to blow the sucker up

Here is the link to it, https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...basics-268565/

"Do not go wot without giving it 100% thottle due to our cars being tq based if your not a 100% you will not get your correct fueling."

Oh wait, maybe he means not foot to the floor, def misunderstood at first lol

Pretty sure ut means don't tune the car to where it gives WOT power at less than 100% pedal application.

What he's talking about is tuning the DAL's and a couple other tables to cause the throttle plate to open more sooner.

This is a big when tuning cars.

It gives the illusion the car is faster but it's only putting uneeded stress on the motor and turbo and it enters boost WAY too early.

....................................

Not to mention that you won't enter the proper Lambda for such load on the engine.

Unless you change the lambda table to do so, but that's just bad practice and just causing harm.

It is fine as long as the car enters PE at the same time. I had mine tuned to command 100% throttle at 60% pedal for about 20K miles but I also had it start going into PE at 60% driver desired torque (pedal) so it just makes for a touchier pedal. I ended up smoothing it out to 100% throttle at 85% pedal for the sake of drivability

Rutland/Worcester MA.

I don't mind meeting up if you need help. Myself, Term, BYT, CSS3, and many others can help with tunes as well. I am here also if anyone needs someone with HP Tuners and wants to get a remote tune from said tuners as well.

For the sake of driveability I always go against it. To be honest, I did the same thing for a while but sometimes it would go 100% when I didn't really want it to and it got annoying. It just didn't need to be that way.

Yeah I changed mine for the same reason. It was too easy to go from 25% throttle to 100% throttle by barely moving your foot. Like a light switch on or off. Some people like their cars that way but most do not.

I concur. At first I was like "coooool". It got old quick lol.

I've just advised against it ever since. Everyone wants something different though. I feel it adds too much unneeded stress on the motor - Like going WOT at too low of an RPM too often.

that 100% @ 85% throttle didnt sound too bad though. A little more reaction off the pedal wouldnt be too bad, but whens too early to get full boost? most people seem to get it from 3800-4800. the earlier you have full boost kick in, the earl;ier it runs out too though right?

Most can hit 23 psi by 3000-3200 RPMs in 3rd gear. I liked it at 100% throttle at 85% pedal and I had it start PE at 90% desired torque (0.90 lambda at 90% to 0.88 lambda at 100%)
