Have you logged since you installed the new intercooler? I can't remember if you said you did.

bringing this thread back from the dead to ask a couple questions.

im showing knock on my interceptor that was never showing. it usually only happens when taking off from a stop in first while normal driving. itll spike to like 4 or 6 but the car drives good with no loss in power or anything. if i go wot on the highway or anytime im rolling along i dont get any knock. i figured it was false knock until i got a loud backfire pop on takeoff which my car would never ever do. now every once in awhile ill get that random loud backfire pop.

how accurate is the interceptor in showing knock and how accurate is the rpd? i just wanna make sure its not something serious going on.

Part throttle false knock is fairly common at low rpm. If you are seeing it regularly under normal acceleration, it may be real. Check your plug gap, try .032 or even .030.

i see it fairly regularly yep. never when cruising, never on wot, never anywhere else BUT taking off in first from like a red light or a stop sign or whatever. spikes pretty damn nice too.

ill check the plugs and go from there. lets see.

Per the tuning school, Bob suggested that random spikes of knock are probably false; however, when the knock retard keeps building it's probably real.

In general, the best way to identify false knock is to temporarily run high octane fuel, if you get the exact same knock in the same spots, you can be more confident it is false knock.
