Sputtering under boost

About a month ago my 09 LNF randomly started sputtering and bogging down under boost. I'm hearing a sputtering crackling noise from my exhaust and losing a lot of power. If I stay on it for a couple seconds, it'll keep sputtering without being under boost for a few seconds while the CEL blinks. I don't have a scan tool so I replaced the spark plugs but it didn't help. Any idea what else it could be?

Had it checked at autozone, no codes showed. Guy there suggested boost leak or hose collapse.

Its weird that there are no codes.

If the cel is blinking that means that the ecu is disabling at least one injector to save the cat from getting too much fuel. Which essentially means you have a major misfire. Could be single cylinder or coule be multiple.

Yeah ignore my post, I don't know what I was thinking here. I was looking at another persons boost leak issue, and started to read this and think it was the same issue.

Have someone run a data log to see more in detail what is going on with your car. I think that would be a good start.

I'm sorry, but this is straight up incorrect. IF the wg was somehow stuck open and limiting boost completely, this would not cause some massive amount of misfire like the OP is experiencing. Further more, it's silly to somehow assume that IF the wg was in fact stuck open, that this would also somehow equate to unmetered air passing into the engine. These are 2 completely different scenarios, neither of which are likely happening.

It's absolutely a misfire issue. I can almost guarantee there is at least a pending P0300 stored in there.

Got my own OBDii adaptor yesterday and used the Torque app with it. No codes showed. (No code showed for my aigbag light either)

Also whats your plug gap set to? and I know its painful, but you'll have to make the CEL blink again then pull the code shortly after it goes off. Also if you can log with the torque app look at timing, knock, and misfires

Some scanners don't show pending codes. Some will only show mature (active) dtc's.

Got it figured out. The new plugs I put in were NGK which I didn't gap. They turned out to be at around .038-.039ish. I checked the gap on some new AC Delcos, made sure they were .032, and those fixed the problem.

Yeah thats a little big (the 0.038/9) glad you've got the issue fixed.

Really glad it was that and not something more complex. I'm always afraid I'll screw something up when digging deep into mechanical work. One less thing to worry about.
