so do the 09's come with the same OS that is being flashed onto the 08.5's to make it one less step for dealers so all they have to do is flash the ECM with a new bin file ? and add sensors ? Also for a tune and some sensors stevo can hook us up with stage 1+ basicaly ????

Thats what I would call it Stage 1 +

with what hpt has given us. the gm stage tune is not copy and past deal. until you fully understand how many tables are in the lnf ecm. you'll come to see that the lnf tuning got hosed harder than the lsj did in terms of table access.

i doubt the GMPD team wants you to steal their tune and distribute (for profit or not). I bet half the development time was spent on securing or hiding all the finer details. (like all 4 DI combustion modes)

For those of us looking for maximum horsepower and forgoing warranty, your already picking up the tab on powertrain related issues, so whats 700 bucks more? For me having all 1400 adjustments to the ecu rather than 18 via HP tuners is worth the added cash, plus the piece of mind knowing that the car should be running right at all times.... IMO Better to pay 700 bucks now than 3900 later

agreed isnt there like 600 tables and we only can adjust like 13 ?
factory def has more than us for sure, this wont be copy and paste when its released.

I wouldn't be keeping it stock anyhow. What I would need to do is finally get access to the tables they changed so that I can make my tune work with the sensors needed to exceed 22.5 psi. Why would I want to leave it stock and just resell it? Ghey!

Area47 is right, we can only see about 15% or so of the total tables in the ECM. There is about as much to see here as there was on the 04 Cavi's. And my VCR had more options on it's menu.

I'm also looking into turning those sensors into a plug and play harness so that you don't have to cut your factory wiring harness. That was a very weird idea on GM's part to make you cut and rewire the factory harness, but I understand WHY they did it.

I get an HHR (Homo Hot Rod) next week to play with. And I have been waiting on the stage kit. I guess until they start carrying that part number on the GM Worldwide or whatever that site is called they have to keep ordering them from Germany. Either that or my dealer thinks I am an idiot........an idiot who spent $40,000 there in the past 6 month and don't have a car to show for it. Frickin ECMs are expensive!

anyone live close to the gm performance design facility, drive over give them a bump to hurry up with the cobalt kit. a intake should not have to extend production two months, i know they adjusted a couple more tables but come on they are almost the same as the hhr there cant be too many.

it takes a good day to to route a minimal bend high flow intake with no codes

I'm starting to call BS on this stage kit ever being released for our cars. It's the same 2.0LNF as the Solstice and HHR and there is no reason that a simple intake would extend production time this long. An intake is something those engineers could put together in about 12 hours. I think the stage kit has simply been put on indefinite hold as a result of GM's problems.

Mark my words, the first quarter will come and go without any stage kit hitting the market.

i also have suspicions that this might be delayed. I think we will just have to play the waiting game

Lol @ people who think they grasp the design time scale at GM. It takes a long time to get things done. GM can't just fab up something that works and put it for sale 2 months later on a vehicle that will still retain the warranty. **** just doesn't work that quickly at a big company that prefers trying to put out reliable parts.

The word from Tom at Crate Engine Depot estimates the release of the LNF upgrade for the Cobalt to be around the end of the first 1/4. That would put it at the end of March. The 1st 1/4 is what GMPP said all along for the Cobalt. I'd like to think the "intake", whatever that may consist of, will give us another 20 horsepower. We CAN dream. Be patient!!!

I like to look at it this way. They are using all those other cars as a "proving ground" for the upgrade. They have already found a need for some kind of improvement in the air intake system and are incorporating it into the Cobalt application. Patience is a virtue that just might net us a better package.

Ya think!!
