I actually just had the upper CP off as well as teh CAI and neither had any kind of residue in it. But the pics of those valves above has me concerned! lol!

Vac line on the intake manifold that goes to the brake booster is the largest line and would be easy to pour the seafoam directly into it.

According to the can you can either SLOWLY pour it in or let it slowly suck it out of the can while holding the car at a high idle (1500 RPMs) It is supposed to set in there for a little while before you restart the car.

From GM SI. This is the GM stuff but must be just like Seafoam.

#PIP4753: Supplement To Upper Engine And Fuel Injector Cleaner Label - (Dec 11, 2009)

Subject: Supplement to Upper Engine and Fuel Injector Cleaner Label

Models: All GM Vehicles

Equipped with a Gasoline Engine

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Some service procedures, service bulletins, or PIs may advise to decarbon the engine with GM Upper Engine and Fuel Injector Cleaner to remove valve deposits but the label that is on the back of the bottle does not include any instructions that explain how to use the cleaner.

Recommendation/Instructions:
If a service procedure, service bulletin, or PI does not include decarboning instructions and the GM Vehicle Care 3 Step Induction Cleaning Kit (E-957-001) is not available, the guidelines below supplement the label and explain how the cleaner can be used to clean the intake valves:

Important: Extreme care must be taken not to hydrolock the engine when inducing the cleaner. If too much cleaner is induced at too low of a RPM, or if you force the engine to stall by inducing too much cleaner at once, the engine may hydrolock and bend a connecting rod(s).

•In a well-ventillated area with the engine at operating temperature, slowly/carefully induce a bottle of GM Upper Engine and Fuel Injection Cleaner into the engine with RPM off of idle enough to prevent it from stalling (typically around 2,000 RPM or so). Depending on the engine configuration, induce the cleaner through the throttle body or an engine vacuum hose/pipe.
•Turn the engine off after inducing the cleaner and allow the cleaner to soak with the engine off for 1 hour (Do not let cleaner soak for more than 2 hours as remaining deposits may start to harden back up again).
•Add a bottle of GM Fuel System Treatment Plus to the fuel tank and fill the vehicle with one of the Top Tier gasolines listed in the latest version of 04-06-04-047. See Bulletin 05-00-89-078 for more details on GM Fuel System Treatment Plus.
•Test drive the vehicle extensively to circulate the GM Fuel System Treatment Plus, which will help to eliminate/reduce any remaining intake valve deposits.
•Advise the customer to only use one of the Top Tier Gasolines listed in the latest version of 04-06-04-047 to minimize intake valve deposits in the future.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

There's a mess of vids on how to do it on Youtube as well, the smoke screens are funny too lol! Got my can of ****, going to do it later today or tomorrow

I plan on removing the largest hose from the IM and sucking a lil bit of it up at a time. Then you let it sit off for 15-20mins then start and watch the show LOL!

Use the line coming off the manifold to the vac tank. I put a T in it and let a small hose suck it up. It goes in too fast as it is. Don't need a large line, too big a vacuum leak.

Not me. Synthetic shouldn't coke up the crankcase, at least not at 38k miles.

I went out and did it to my car. Got about 3.5 seconds of white smoke and that was it lol. So I went and drove it for a bit after a 10-15 minute wait of inducing it in the IM and nothing. So must mean mine is good to go. The rest in the gas tank. I did put like 4 oz. in the oil but thats because I am changing it tomarrow.

I did mine around 25k and had about the same results as you. Smoked a bit on the road, not for too long.

Yea I had nothing like that. I put almost half a can in through the IM. And let it sit for 10 minutes. Started it up let it idle and rev it to about 2500rpms a few times and nothing. Where did you put it in through? I did the vacuum line thats right on top of the IM.

Same here ... and i used half a can . Weird maybe i should pull the charge pipes and see if I have a lot of crap in them cause mine smoked terrible. Question .... when you started your car did it want to idle right away or was it a hard start that wanted to stall? Mine was the later.

The smoke is actually from adding too much of the chemical and too quickly. The smoke you are seeing is actually the chemical burning off, not the deposists. The deposits will be black sooty looking spots on the ground from blowing it out.

You will get much more benefit from getting a hose, hooking to a vacume line and sucking it out of the bottle slowly.

Do not use the brake booster, you will only get 1-2 cyl that way. I will get pics up tommorow and a detailed description on how to do this since everyone seems to be so far off. ( no offense and I understand what the can says but you should never add it all in any direct way it should be IV dripped or stremaed for the best effect.)

I am using a Vacuum line ..... The one directly in the center of the manifold . And I'm not adding too much too quickly...it takes a good 3 minutes to add 1/2 a bottle. I have a piece of 1/4 inch vacuum line that is sucking the product right out of the bottle in small increments . My car hardly even smokes while adding the seafoam .... its after it sits for 20 minutes and I start it back up .

You are likely causing a pooling effect and still adding it too quickly. It should take about 10 minutes to add the chemical while the car is running so it can burn it in increments. You are doing it right for the most part though.
