is it extrememly obvious when you need to replace your 02's or do you really have to pay attention to see how it's running?

The car will sound like it has a miss at idle, ALMOST subaru'ish sounding but not quite as pronounced.

Would a bad O2 sensor cause "rough" idle? Mine idles noticably worse than it used to. Not terribly bad, but it does cause a very slight steering wheel vibration. I was chalking it up to plugs. If it were the front or rear 02 wouldn't it pop a CEL?

I cant really detect a mis at idle, but then again I cant detect shiot at idle because of our fuel pump.

Anybody have a part number for the front o2 sensor on gmdirect or rock auto or any other place?

every now and then driving on the highway at a constant throttle in 5th gear probably around 2400rpms, my exhaust will go from its usual sound to a boxer rumble for a short period of time (maybe 30 seconds.)
One time it scared me so bad, I thought the downpipe that matt had just installed, fell off...lol. Thats how different the pronunced sound was.

i will say this about that cuz i had an issue that made my car sound like a subaru lol,, might be way off and completely different, i know,, but lets just say i had 1 as in,, ONE,, exhaust valve not functioning due to a broken rocker arm and lash adjuster on CYL 1 ..... the car drove fine while cruising, never noticed it at WOT, and sometimes while idling it would sound perfectly normal.... so, after hahn bringing it to my attention as to why it was like that,, i realized that it must have been put through some major abuse up north...... but yea, that made it occasionaly sound like a wrx....

idk if that lil bit of info will help anybody or not cuz yea its most likely the 02 sensor went bad,, BUT,, all i was sayin by that is that i thought it was a bad sensor or something too, my car sounded like a WRX sometimes, sometimes it ran fine, i was pretty pissed though when i got an e-mail with a pic in it with my valve cover taken off and a damn rocker arm jus chillen there with a bent lash adjuster... so, if it was me, i would take a few minutes to pop off that valve cover... and btw, it never threw codes,,, it sometimes compensated for it and made it all better by itself sometimes

Does this socket work for both the front and rear O2 sensors? and what size would this particular socket be?

It should work for both. I can confirm shortly though.

Front 02 part #: 12589380 (A/C Delco) - OEM
Rear 02 part # 12616506 (A/C Delco) - OEM

I actually noticed something similar to that the other day while just cruising in 5th or 4th. Anyone know what this could be?

I'm coming up on 10k miles and I'm thinking of doing some sea foam and new plugs just for ***** and giggles. I just got tuned too so I think now is a good time. Anyone know of a how to on how to do sea foam on our cars? I'm assuming it's different than other cars as we have to suck a bit into the intake.

I put the sea foam in a syringe and hook a vacuum line up to a T I have on the vacuum lines on the intake manifold. Just let the vacuum suck it in a little at a time. You can also put some in the cap, and do this too.

Sea foamed the 3G about a month ago. At around 90,xxx miles. I can tell a difference in how its running now.. but the huge thing is the added MPG. Pretty cool stuff. Smoked the neighborhood out though.

yup, I havent heard it since I posted that post but I remember my exhaust just getting loud all of a sudden while cruising. I remember it was a down pour out too, lol. I pulled over looked under the car to see if I still had the DP mounted, it was. I got soaked for nothing. The noise went a way after I started the car back up.

That's really strange my scenario happened in a heavy rain aswell. I was cruising around 70mph in 4th or 5th can't remeber and I heard that weird noise around 3k or 4k rpm.

Me and BYT went to the track together last night. He logged my car a few times and it seems that my O2 sensors is out too. We were only able to get between 13.5-13.8s all night long. O well it was fun

I used the vacuum line that goes into the top of the intake ..... the one that hooks to the vacuum tank . My car smoked so bad ......it must have had a ton of build up on the intake valves cause it smoked worse than any other car ive ever done ..... and I've done atleast 10 cars.
