thats honestly a per dealer experience. You cant give a general answer to that.

^qft

Some will go off on you over a simple intake while others don't care unless it's clearly causing a problem.

Some people have problems with dealers over any mods. Mine offered/helped me install my original Hahn IC for instance. It really just depends.

Yup...one dealer voided my brothers warranty on his old grand am GT because he added springs! Springs and they voided his whole car's warranty! Crazy.

They can't do that. That is a violation of the Magnusson-Moss Warranty act. Your warranty can only be voided if the part added/modified is a direct cause of the failure. For example, if your tranny goes out they have to cover it unless they can show that Springs caused your tranny to go out. So who cares if an intake pisses off a dealer or not, and intake cannot cause any catastrophic failure.
I really hope your brother doesn't think his warranty is void, because it isn't.

It was voided, Pontiac did it, but then again, he doesn't have the car anymore...and, Pontiac doesn't exist anymore! Haha. It was no big deal to him anyways, after that he took out the motor and built his own turbo kit for it. It was the only turbo 3400 Grand Am GT that we've known of. It would've ran a low 12 if he ever could get it to not break (The aftermarket for grand am, BLOWS!).

You can't void an entire warranty for springs. Absolutely illegal. Google Magnusson-Moss.

I'm sure it was illegal but he didn't really care, here are videos of said car:

It was fast, but the 4t45e transmission couldn't handle it at all, even after modification.

MAF straightener

I notice cmiller8006 posted my website saxonpc.com . I am also very interested in the post about

".. From plenum boxes to multiple air straightners and the ability to support 600+ hp, this intake is going to be worth the wait. ... Particular attention has been focused on MAF screens of different thicknesses, materials, and cell sizes in hope of keeping the MAF happy during partial as well as full throttle acceleration."

I am seeing many happy folks applying these honeycomb cell air mods in Corvettes, RX7's and such. I am not sure if any of you are running one. I will send someone a sample if they wanna try it. It would hopefully be someone really in tune with their car that would notice the change. I will also post the link to the discussions about this on HP Tuners:

What is the intake size of the CobaltSS ? Many high performance autos are 100mm but I doubt the Cobalt is that large. Someone got a ruler with mm?

We used a grid pattern mesh on an SS/TC with an AEM intake with positive results based on our HPT logs.

The trims were very consistant and therefore would be much easier to tune for, since it would no longer be a moving target.

^^ What he said. Although, if we had access to something more honeycomb and slaightly deeper like those on the vettes, it would be way smoother since it would be channeling the air through it rather than parting it and causing a straightening effect. In any case, it did help a bit and made it tuneable.

Guess this is ending up dead in the water?

I'd be more than happy to wait on this Intake. But kinda hard to do when there is nothing concrete out there. Knowing Term though, I doubt he'd leave us all hanging like this.

I have no doubt that they are a good company but this isnt the first time they flaked on something, they were supposed to be making a intake for the 5.7 Tundra and the contact we had tried to stay in touch but the guy went on vacation then he couldnt be reached most of the time. I am sure they have good intentions but nobody should be holding their breath.

As many of you have said, this is in the developement phase and an ETA cannot be announced at this time. The LNF as everybody knows has played havoc on the intake market and the company wants to make sure they release a quality product. This company works on the basis of making power reliably so if the venture proves to not produce anything but great results, sometimes they have to go back to the drawing board which could have been the issue with the tundra. The biggest issue we have at hand at this time is I announced the news as soon as I got the OK from Vararam that they would agree to build an intake for us unlike many other companies where news of an intake was made public right before the release of the product. For anybody who is hoping for an intake to go from the idea to production in only a few months, id say you need to do some research on how much time any money goes into a developement process. For all the members with positive outlook I appreciate all the feedback. I will be giving Partick @ Vararam a call sometime next week to get an update.

Thanks for the update. It takes a long time to prototype a product, then they need to get all the molds, dies, etc produced and in order. If you absolutly NEED and intake now the revised AEM and K&N look promising. Sounds like alot of R&D going into this which is very promising, not just an aluminum tube with a cone filter on the end.

so does anyone know if they are actually doing R&D or is everything still theoretical... from what i've read in this thread its all ideas and zero physical parts exist, prototype or not...

and for those of us who are new to the CSS scene... where would one get the revised AEM or K&N and has anyone done a back to back test w/ them to compare and see which is better?

There are actual parts being made for the intake. R&D so far has been using different styles of MAF screen's and air straightners to learn how to make the MAF happy. They were towards the end of this testing the week b4 last, just haven't had a change to call since i work till 7pm. What everyone doesn't realize is it has only been 2 months since I first reported this intake is being made. Look how long it took K&N to make their intake and they are usually the first to introduce one when a new vehicle comes out. Chew on that fact for a minute..... Car has been out since 08 and they just recently released their's so for all of you who dancing around like a 5yr old who has to go to the bathroom, grow up and think for a minute before you run your mouths and knock a company trying to enter our market. Either have compassion or get the 5yr old off the computer.

Trouble is most people won't have these cars in a year so they want everything yesterday.

It's ok.

Other people will be able to profit.
