There is a significant difference with the kit. Before it I raped a civic si by about 3 cars and after I took him by like 6 or more. And this is in a hhr SS

It will put you at around 295 at the crank, when if you spent that same amount on a tune from a pro you will get about 310 at the wheels. Pretty sad.

get all your mods at once, then tune it, and you will be set.
wow you kno alot lol not i'm glad your friend told you

because unlike them we have to get an intake for the kit

Yeah, and I am pretty sure the stocker could handle a whopping 30hp difference as it has on everyones non "stock" tunes

I'm hearing rumblings that this kit may not make it to market until early summer due to CARB recertification of the new intake and subsequent calibration change. Rumor is that the 09 stage kit for the HHR/Kappa line will be out possibly by the end of this month as the CARB approval was essentially a carryover.

New sensors and and intake reflash , and I will be willing to bet that the kit will come underated and give out more power than that. With the new sensors and such and the reflash , I will bet that you will be able to get more out of the car later with aftermarket reflashes, and as far as cool dealerships go, they wont void your warranty if you bought the upgrade from them. It is worth it.

Can't really disclose publically, sorry. I have alot of information and may be running a non certified version of the kit by the end of the month if all goes well.

No problem...just wanted to make sure it wasn't a "read it several times on this site" post...people think that if they read it 3 times on here it is fact....

This thread sounds like a gossip magazine. The kit should release in first quarter. GM has been known to drop the ball, so it could be later. Just subscribe to the crate engine depot thread in the vendor section, and stay tuned. We are all anxious, but its starting to get redundant.

LOL No, its from one of the "horses" mouths so to speak I try not to post unless I have something concrete. I'll keep everyone updated to see if I can get a prerelease non certified kit (or not).

Did your friend told you the GM stage kit retains the car's warranty?

What's everyone getting their panties in a wad about? Were talking about maybe 50whp. It's not like the stage kit will be like strapping a JATO to your trunk or anything. Enjoy your car (which, stock, outperforms 97% of the other roadgoing vehicles out there). When the kit comes out, if it's an attractive option to you, then get it. Y'alls cars WILL NOT DIE without the upgrade....

I am getting back around $2000.... plan on putting it all in the Cobalt...

but smartly:

$1000 for the stage kit(set aside for when it comes out)

$1000 for a spec Stage 2+ clutch/flywheel(set aside for when my stocker takes a ****, lol, hopefully a while from now, in fact, hopefully, I add to this collection with next years tax return before I need this $1000, maybe a couple of times)

I dont know who the hell started this rumor, but its BS. Why would GM make the stage kit for JUST the COBALT 20 more hp? Does that make any damn sense?

Comon guys, stop with the rumors and just wait it out. If u cant wait get it psychotuned and youll probly be making MORE power/TQ than u would with stage 1 anyway.

Yes. actually it would make sense. With all the glowing reviews the cobalt SS has gotten, and all indications are its the next SRT4, it would make sense for GM to make sure it stays on top with as much as they are willing to throw at it. However, the more likely answer is our stock intake couldnt properly handle the level, and the certs are just taking longer.

Are u on drugs??

So much fail in one post.

first of all, there is nothing special about the SS/TC vs the sky redline, sol GXP, and the HHR SS. The kappa platform in the sol/sky is much better than the Cobalts platform, and have you looked at all the awards the sol GXP has won? The GXP is a better performer in the corners and the strip hands down.

All these "glowing reviews" dont mean crap because theyre about the car in its STOCK form. The magazines dont review a stage 1 cobalt, they review a STOCK cobalt. We all know that they also dont know crap about aftermarket support/potential and dont bother discussing these topics as such. I dont see how a "glowing review" of a stock cobalt is going to justify GM to say "hey, lets make it with 20 more hp vs the superior GXP with stage 1!"

The next SRT4? WOW. Do u even know that Dodge is still making the SRT4? Do u also know that its engine and chasis are based off the EVO X? In case u didnt know heres a pic:

Thats MY CSRT4, and I can promise it will remain an SRT4. Please educate yourself before u make dumb comments like these.

Ur stock intake cant handle the power? Ur not running 1000000 hp. How is it not able to handle the power? I hope u realize that there are psychotuned guys running this power with drop in filters. Some just have only the tune.

U have to stop with the fanboy attitude and realize that there are better cars out there than the SS/TC. U make urself sound like an ass.

Say WHAT? The Cobalt is a GM chassis, the Evo is Mitsu/Chrysler.

Nice to see some SRT-4 fanboi around, they are getting rare.

Honestly, no need to get all out defensive. You can simply man up some solid performance data from legit sources to prove its "EVO based" superiority in stock trim.

BowTieTillIDie = Awesome

Oh btw, did anyone mention the stage one eradicates the power limiter??? The other tunes do not, and eventually have to be reflashed.
