spoke to service manager and parts manager at dealership today. Confirmed earlier reports that they are still worthless.

Ugghhh...what a pain in the ass this waiting game is.....GM needs to either give an official time frame or just say is not happening.

4 all u guys that are waiting for the gm stage kit, and do not wanna get a non gm tune (for warranty issues) just curious...... if the gm kit does not come out or if it's july or august and it still has not come out yet, will you all be getting the non gm tunes then? or will u stifle your urge for more power and keep it stock so as to keep ur warranty?

because i think there were a few people here that said gm will do EVERYTHING in their power not to do warranty work, yet these same people have also said they want to wait for gm tune to keep their warranty??!! if warranty work has so many loopholes, why bother? just a thought...

and also, do you not think, that possibly, quite possibly, gm might have all those that have gm tune installed sign a document that may partially waive their factory warranty? ford did that with their super snake upgrade on the gt500.... i mean , after all, if they will find loopholes not to cover a bone stock balt, imagine covering one with more hp and tq!!!

*** yeh and yes its the smartest thing you can do is keep the warranty...

as for warranty speaking..got the ok from my service manager today for non warranty on lowering springs.....he just needs to approve the product and have them install it there.......

ARK looks freakn nice....any thoughts????? the more expensive set......with pillow ball....
I dont think a 12.59 QM is going to happen with just the stage kit which is basically upgraded sensors and a tune, and I hear an intake tube maybe too? That extra 35 hp or so is not going to shave over a full second off your QM.

I am just waiting to see what the LNF kit entails for the SS/TC. My plan is to stay stock until the 5 year powertrain is up.

That is what I was trying to say at an earlier point. If you beat on it and break something it will not matter whether you are stock, tuned, or have the stage kit. Abuse that causes failures is never covered under warranty.

exactly, so I still cannot figure why everyone is waiting for a 550 dollar gm tune that will MOST LIKELY, and say most likely give you 290/340, just like the sky/hhr kit.

do u really think that they will take the chance and do a 315/340-350 kit with all that is going on with them right now?? they f$%#%% know that we are all talking bout it, they probably have guys feeling 'our pulse' on this website.

and...... wouldn't be surprised if they MAKE YOU stop in to a chevy dealer every 6 months or so to check on the car, part of their maintainence plan for the stage kit, mo money, mo money!!! for what, .2 second gain in your et? i'm gonna wait another month, and if it doesn't come out with 315/350, trifecta has to be considered

Just do the ECU swap now and contact stevo if he is still around ... I been runing 2k miles tuned and swapped with no problems. In fact I have been getting better gas mileage
I am a very spirated driver btw

Either way a custom tune + swapped ecu. Ecu's are only 200 bucks trifecta tune is 250 so you will have 300 HP 340 Trq for less then a stage kit and a VERY small piece of mind you have the untouched un flashed original ECU sittin around incase of hard times.... I just like the fact if I can't make the payments on it or I feel like trading it in I can just swap the ECU and its all good .... I take extreme caution working on any car and made sure I had all my ducks in a row before doing this because I don;t have the resources to fix a 2.0 LNF in my current garage... I have 10k worth of tools, lifts, etc in a storage facility along with my F-Bod ...... But a 2 car garage with 8 ft ceilings made for midget cars isn't going to cut it .. I would imagine an engine rebuild or trans fix for this bitch at a dealer would be around 5- 7 k maybe more .... Time to work on my spring shop project YAY 2000 sq ft 14ft ceilings with a walk under tunnel + my lift will fit. I can't wait !!!

what is this ecu swap with steveo? the psykotune? does he send you a new ecu and you take out the old and put new one in? how is it custom tuned then? does he dyno?? some help here please, because I just wanted to do trifecta tune?

besides, i keep hearing that gm can tell if u swapped ecu??

so basically, ecu swap (steveo) vs trifecta, pros and cons?

I just went on a rant at GM Tuner Source before realizing that all comments must be approved before posting....you guys likely won't be reading it in that case.

It was a pro-America, pro GM rant - but blatantly asked the boys at GM not to turn their backs on us Cobalt SS owners when it comes to the Stage 1 kit.

*fingers crossed it gets published"

I'm guessing around 13.60's, 13.1-13-flat with driver mod (seems as though we have had some drivers pulling stock ss/tc's down into the mid 13's. The launch is absolutely key here). General rule of thumb is.

10 horsepower roughly equals a tenth in the QM
100 hp roughly equals a second

anywhere within the realm of rumors is for a 30-50hp gain... Thus .30-.50 in the QM

Just a SEWAG (Semi Educated Wild Assed Guess)

That is what I thought as well 13.5 at 107 sounds about right. 13.2 if a very good driver.

Personally, I'd be very happy with a consistent low to mid 13 sec car. I almost DON'T want to be in the 12's! As weird as that sounds. Isn't there an added safety requirement when going from 13's to 12's? Helmet in 13s then some thing else once you're in the 12's right?
