They ended up redesigning it 2 more times over the next 2ish years before getting something to stay together for more than 20k miles.

I'd rather they take the time to do it right then release junk several times. Having to get it fixed repeatedly with the promise of the "redesign" fixed the issue just pisses people off worse.
Take their time to do what? The LNF Turbo Upgrade kit has been out for other LNF applications. Nothing has changed with the SS/TC.

You're not following the thread. There IS a difference with the Cobalt SS. There is a problem in the air inlet tract. Nobody knows for sure exactly what the exact problem is but several people on here have verified this. Plus. The Cobalt is unique in that we already have NLS and LC. The others have that added with their new ECU OC. And I'm sure there atre other differences. Each application had their own calibration so there must be something different.

I just noticed today that if you look into "building" a Pontiac GXP online for instance, that the "Power Upgrade Option" is now present if you want the kit installed straight from the factory.

Seems GM made a good marketing/business decision there.

Software is easy to program. I am not sure what is holding up the Cobalt SS LNF TUK but if it is the air intake, why not just release the PCM calibration? Why bother with an air intake?

My understanding is that is a cold air tube modification, not necessarily a full cold air intake replacement. I guess we'll know in a couple months for sure...

plastic tubing is fine, doesnt hold heat like alum does, that is not the problem. Guys, the intake is the most important factor in dealing with a turbo car. It contains the MAF and it is very particular about every aspect of the air that goes past it. Anyone that has had MAF problems with other cars can tell you , that if your MAF is bad , your not going anywhere. I am pretty sure that the change in diameter of the tubing behind the MAF is causing certain turbulence as the air being drawn in.
After they change the intake diameter or distance , they are going to have to go back in and set target goals for the calibration. THEN find out the limit to the system. How far they can push it. Idle, closed loop, open loop, new voltage , etc .
All in all , there is just alot more that goes into just changing the intake out.

More realistically , any car with an intercooler does not need a COLD AIR INTAKE system. Velocity is more important , let the IC take care of how cold the air is , that is its job. Most of the time the temps that the MAF reads is not going to be exactly to what is actually being introduced into the cylinder, so tuning the CAI is going to be a more of a pain than anything.

The new intake would also raise the price. If there's a new airbox, MAF, filter, and tubing involved, I expect nothing short of $1000 for the SS/TC LNF upgrade kit.

Thank you for a great explanation of the complexities of the LNF calibration. But I'm still a little fuzzy on one thing. GM refers to the sensors as "T/MAP" Temp/Manifold Air Press. Probably does the same thing but with a different name.

I have come to the realization that this kit will never be released. I think the stage kit for the new camaro is already out lol.

And then when July comes they will say "should be done by Thanksgiving time." Wouldn't that just be awesome?!

Forget about the tune, I am still waiting for the 5pm Friday update from AlphaJaguar!

Guys seriously, I would be flooding GMTunerSource with comments about how pissed off and frustrated we are getting about waiting for this tune. I posted one that was pretty much a vent, but I KNOW it got to the right people. I was told it did. I was also told that posts like mine are shown to the "powers" inside as well.

I think we should deluge GMTunerSource with comments, posts, and pleas for this damn tune.
